AIMI Visual Media produced a 48 s horizontal brand film for a European-style catalytic fragrance lamp with a dark green glaze body and a gold openwork metal lid. Shot at 1920×1080 on a light gray set with a black mirror table and real falling petals, delivered in 3-5 business days.

The client positioned this piece clearly: sell taste, not function. The lamp, a dark green glazed body under a gold openwork lid with European relief patterns, was aimed at the gift market as home art with a wellness note. Green-and-gold European pieces sit on a knife edge: lit well they read as light-luxury poster material, lit badly as tourist souvenirs. We built the film on a light gray gradient background with a black mirror table and pink petals falling through the frame.

Creative Concept
The copy line was home art and wellness taste, so the frame had to translate that sentence. A light gray to warm gray gradient, generous negative space, high brightness with low saturation, sets a clean base and leaves the color saturation budget to the product itself. Real falling petals give the still lamp a visual counterpart for drifting fragrance. The full mirror reflection doubles the composition’s formality. Retro-ornate products demand restrained camera work; the object’s own detail does the talking.
Production
The gold openwork lid was the hardest element: gold reflects aggressively, and hard light bursts every hole into white dots. We switched the key to a large softbox pulled beyond 1.5 meters so the highlight spread into a warm gold sheet, then rotated a polarizer to kill stray glare until the scrolling pattern read clearly. The green glaze had the opposite problem: it drinks light and goes muddy, so the key came from high and oblique to lift the gloss layer, with a narrow rim light separating the body from the background. Side light swept the relief patterns to draw out their shadows. Shot on a Canon 5D Mark IV with a macro lens and LED constant lights at a locked 5500K.
Production Challenges
1. The gold openwork lid blew out into white dots. Every hole in the metal openwork is its own reflective face. We enlarged and distanced the softbox so highlights became areas rather than points, and added a polarizer to strip excess glare. The lid kept its warm gold tone with the openwork pattern fully readable.
2. The green glaze kept going dull. Green glaze against a gray background photographs as undifferentiated gray-green when underfed with light. We raised background brightness by half a stop to open a brightness gap, then traced the body with a narrow rim light. The green stood out of the set instead of sinking into it.
3. Petals and product disagreed on exposure. Falling petals want a slower shutter for motion; product close-ups want a small aperture and deep focus. We shot the two as separate passes, each at its best settings, and composited the layers in post. Neither layer paid for the other’s needs.

Where the Film Lives
The 48 s horizontal film suits the brand website, JD and Tmall detail-page video slots, and in-store screens, and it fits WeChat Moments ad buys in gift seasons. For e-commerce first-screen placement we advise cutting the reveal into the first five seconds so the full product appears before viewers swipe. Cross-border pushes should carry a separately shot vertical version for TikTok and Instagram, and fragrance-category rules differ by platform, so check current policies. Stills from the film serve as detail-page mood images and festival posters.
An ornate product plus an ornate camera equals chaos. Slow pushes, quiet pans, and let the gold do the showing off. Signed June, Product Photography Team Lead. — June, Product Photography Team Lead
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a fragrance or home aroma video cost?
Product videos at AIMI start from $200 per finished video. A gift-positioned brand film like this one, with real-petal passes, layered compositing, and three delivery versions, is quoted by brief. Send product images and a reference style, and our team returns an itemized quote the same day.
How long does a lamp film like this take?
This lamp film was delivered in 3-5 business days: lighting design and test passes first, one shoot day covering product, lid, and petal layers, then compositing, grade, and captions. If the same session adds white-background stills, we schedule them on the shoot day rather than extending delivery.
How do you keep a gold openwork lid from blowing out?
Gold openwork turns every hole into a mirror, so hard light explodes into white dots. We use a large softbox pulled past 1.5 meters, which stretches highlights into a soft sheet, then a polarizer removes residual glare. The pattern reads clearly and the gold keeps its warm tone.
Are the petals real?
Yes, real petals, scattered by an assistant above camera position. We ran more than thirty takes and composited the two best trajectories for density. That hybrid is more natural than a pure effect and more controllable than a single live pass. The petals’ speed was fine-tuned in post.
Why a light background for a green-and-gold product?
Retro color pairings like green-gold turn dirty on busy or dark sets. A clean, bright, low-saturation background leaves all the saturation to the product, which is what makes the frame read expensive. The dark mirror table anchors the composition without fighting the colors.
What is included in delivery?
The complete 48 s master at 1920×1080, a caption-free clean version for re-captioning or other markets, and each segment as a standalone clip: lamp reveal, gold lid and relief close-ups, petal mood sequence, and the mirror-table ending. The close-up segment covers the craft details gift buyers inspect most.
Where should this film run?
Brand website, JD and Tmall detail pages, and in-store screens, plus WeChat Moments ads during gift seasons. For cross-border, plan a vertical version for TikTok and Instagram shot in the same session. Fragrance-category content rules vary by platform, so check current policies before publishing.
Why does the film end on the mirror table?
Gift buyers purchase the moment of giving, so a closing composition that presents the whole piece, reflected and framed like a display case, directly supports the decision. For gift-positioned products we recommend ending on a full-presentation shot or a gift box whenever the product allows it.
Can you shoot matching stills in the same session?
Yes, and we recommend it for this category. White-background and scene stills shot beside the film keep color and light consistent across the whole detail page, and the shared session costs less than booking photography separately. The green-gold palette benefits most from that consistency.
