AIMI Visual Media produced a 51-second vertical function-demo video for a car seat gap storage box, filmed in a real passenger car’s front cabin on a Canon 5D Mark IV with LED fill. Delivered at 750 x 1000, 3:4, 30fps, natively shot vertical rather than cropped, within 3 business days, with a hand model demonstrating use.

The product is an unbranded category item that solves two concrete annoyances: phones and cards dropping into the seat gap, and small carry items having nowhere to sit. Low ticket price, fast decision, so the video’s job is to show within seconds what the box looks like once installed. We shot in the front cabin of a real high-ownership passenger car, with a hand model performing the full place, press, retrieve cycle. The black PU body with white contrast stitching reads cleanly against the brown interior.

Creative Concept
For gap organizers, the buyer’s first question is whether it fits their car. A studio set, however polished, cannot answer that as well as a real cabin. We framed vertically with the hands and the gap zone on the center axis, leaving the steering wheel and dash at the edges as environmental facts with no brand pointing, consistent with how we handle car exterior work. Attention stays on the product-action interaction the whole time, which is what converts a fast-scrolling mobile viewer.
Production
The demo was broken into three actions: place, press, retrieve, each shot three times with the smoothest take kept, and each performed half a beat slower so mobile viewers can follow. Cabin lighting mixed natural light with a low-power LED from the passenger side to keep the PU surface from blowing to dead white. Black leatherette collapses into a black mass easily, so side light picked out the white stitching; the seam itself is evidence of build quality. Bottom captions follow the actions, with a line like fits both front seats appearing only on the matching shot, and no exaggerated claims.
Production Challenges
1. A car cabin leaves no room for normal camera support. Standard tripods do not fit inside a cabin, so we worked at the wide end close in, swapped the tripod for a monopod wedged into position, and locked three fixed angles that together cover every action without repositioning the camera mid-take.
2. A black product disappears into a dark interior. The PU surface sits close in tone to the seats, so outlines were getting lost in the dark cabin. Side lighting drew out the white stitching and the electroplated trim, separating product from background with light rather than color contrast.
3. Plain placing actions cannot hold 51 seconds. We structured the demo as a small story: something drops into the gap, it cannot be reached, the box goes in, items come out easily. Pain point first, solution after, so the rhythm carries the viewer from problem to payoff.

Where the Film Lives
This vertical film lives mainly on mobile: the main-image video slot on Taobao, JD.com, and Pinduoduo, where full-screen vertical playback converts better; Douyin and Kuaishou short-video and feed placements; and the first screen of e-commerce detail pages. For cross-border platforms such as Amazon, frame and content rules differ, so tell us the target platform before production and check its latest policies.
Small car accessories are decided in seconds. Put the product back into the real scene and the will-it-fit-my-car questions stop coming. For this category, real scenes convert; white walls only describe. — June, Product Photography Team Lead
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a vertical main-image video like this cost?
Product videos at AIMI start from $200 per finished video. This project, with a real cabin scene and a hand model, sits in the standard scope and is quoted by brief. Multiple products shot together are priced as a package when you send the list.
Vertical or horizontal: which should a car accessory choose?
Vertical fits mobile main-image slots and feed placements; horizontal fits detail pages and trade shows. This 51-second film was shot natively at 750 x 1000, not cropped from horizontal, so composition was designed vertical from the start. If you need both, we frame for each in one shoot.
For cabin filming, do we provide the car or do you?
Either works. If the client has a car we use it, since a real model is more convincing; if not, we coordinate a common vehicle. This film used a real passenger car’s front cabin, with wheel and dash appearing as environmental facts and no brand pointing.
The product has no logo; how does the video show it is ours?
Unbranded products build belonging through three things: the store’s brand frame on the detail page, packaging and hangtags in frame, and a consistent unboxing look. The product itself stays clean; we can add a store watermark or brand corner mark in post, aligned with your store visuals.
How long should an e-commerce main-image video be?
Thirty to sixty seconds is the practical window for covering core selling points. This 51-second film follows that rhythm: usage scene in the first three seconds, function demo in the middle, selling point at the close. Platform duration caps vary, so check the target platform’s latest policy before publishing.
Can one film cover a product that comes in several colors?
Yes. The usual approach is a full demo in one main color plus side-by-side display shots for the rest, so one film covers all SKUs. Beyond four colors we suggest splitting into two films, since overloaded information hurts completion. Shot allocation is fixed before filming.
What is the delivery time, and can it be rushed?
Vertical shorts run 3 business days from shoot to delivery, including one revision. Rush down to 48 hours is possible; confirm scheduling with our team. E-commerce launches move fast, so work backward from your listing date and leave room for at least one revision pass.
Can this film go straight onto an Amazon listing?
Amazon listing videos have their own rules on aspect ratio, duration, and content, which differ from domestic platforms. This film was made to domestic e-commerce specs; for Amazon, tell us the target platform and we will reframe or reshoot to match. Platform rules change, so check the latest policy.
Can selling-point captions and callouts be added?
Yes, this film already carries bottom captions. They follow the demo actions: placement copy appears with the placing shot, retrieval copy with the retrieving shot. Captions describe the scene without exaggerated promises, sized for mobile readability, with no more than three information points per film.
Can the footage be reused for a horizontal version later?
Cropping native vertical material to horizontal loses the top and bottom of frame, so we do not recommend it. If you need horizontal, we compose and capture a second version during the same shoot at far lower cost than a return visit. State the versions you need when ordering.
