The brief mixed products that have no shared buyer: a soft hobo, a structured men's briefcase and a patent evening bag. Instead of forcing one look across all three, we designed three sealed setups and ran them back to back in a single day.

Photography Challenges

1. Moving from lifestyle warmth to product precision in one day. The hobo set sells softness and touch; the briefcase sells structure. Each mood has its own light map, so the session was planned as three sealed setups rather than one continuous shoot.

2. Reading leather grain under low-key light. A single hard source carves the briefcase edges but kills grain in shadow. The frame needed shadow that stays dark yet keeps the hide legible.

3. Taming patent leather reflections. The red patent shell mirrors everything in the room. Uncontrolled, the surface fills with studio furniture; over-flagged, it turns dull and reads as matte PU.

Our Approach

Fur-rug lifestyle set

A model reclines on the rug with the hobo resting against the hip, lit by a large warm source from camera left. We kept the rug bright but not blown, so the frame feels soft while the bag stays the densest object in view.

Low-key briefcase study

One gridded source skims the briefcase from behind-left, with a black-flagged fill card holding shadow detail just above noise. The grain reads because the fill is reflective, not a second light.

Patent gloss management

For the evening bag we lit the room, not the bag: large white walls of light that the patent surface reflects as clean, long highlights. The red stays saturated because nothing dark crosses the shell.

"Editorial bag work is sequencing. Decide the mood order before the day starts, seal each setup, and never let the lifestyle set leak into the product frames." — Garbo, Director of Photography

Frequently Asked Questions

Can one session cover both lifestyle and product-only bag shots?

Yes, if the setups are pre-built and sealed. We schedule lifestyle first while model energy is fresh, then move to product frames with the camera locked per setup.

How do you photograph patent leather without messy reflections?

Patent reflects its environment, so we build the environment: large continuous white surfaces that read as long clean highlights, with dark flags placed to shape, never to cross, the shell.

Do you provide models for bag editorials?

We cast to the product. For this set the hobo needed relaxed, domestic body language, so direction stayed seated and reclined rather than standing fashion poses.

Planning a bag campaign with more than one mood?

Send the range and the brand references. We will map each product to its own sealed setup and return a one-day session plan.
