A scented shampoo sells a smell through a screen, so the photography builds the fragrance out of visuals: fresh lilies and roses for the floral notes, glass vessels of golden liquid for the oil story, mist for the atmosphere, and amber liquid glowing through the bottle to tie it together. Then the white packshot does the honest work.

Photography Challenges

1. Making a smell visible. Fragrance has no form. The set had to construct it from fresh flowers, oil-colored vessels and mist, so the buyer’s brain completes the scent from the visuals alone.

2. Amber liquid with depth. Golden shampoo in clear PET goes flat and brown under frontal light. The liquid needed transmitted light to glow like honey while the ornate label stayed readable.

3. Fresh flowers on a schedule. Lilies shed pollen, roses wilt under lights, and pollen stains are permanent on set. Flowers were conditioned, positioned with tweezers, and shot in a strict order with standbys in water.

Our Approach

Backlight through the bottle

A panel behind the bottle fires through the amber liquid so the shampoo glows from within, while a flagged front fill keeps the filigree label and its gold bands crisp.

Vessels as color echoes

The glass bowl and pitcher hold liquid matched to the shampoo’s amber, placed to catch the same backlight, so the whole frame hums in one golden key and the bottle feels like the source of it.

Mist in layers

The atmospheric frame uses mist in two passes: a low drift at the base for dreaminess and a lighter haze behind the bottle for depth, each allowed to settle before the exposure.

"You cannot photograph a fragrance, but you can photograph its evidence: the flowers it names, the oil it carries, the glow it pours. Build the evidence and the buyer imagines the rest." — June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you photograph a fragrance or scented product?

By photographing its evidence: fresh botanicals for the notes, oil-matched vessels for the formula, mist for atmosphere, and backlight through the liquid for glow. The buyer completes the scent from visual cues.

Can you style fresh flowers in product shots?

Yes. We source and condition flowers, position them with tweezers to avoid pollen and bruising, and shoot in a planned order with chilled standbys. Lilies and roses are the backbone of fragrance-set work.

Do you shoot the clean packshot as well as the styled frames?

Always. Styled frames build desire; the white packshot closes the sale. Every campaign session ends with the honest frame the marketplace main slot requires.

A fragrance story that needs to be seen before it is smelled?

Send the bottle. We will build its scent out of flowers, glass and light, and finish with the packshot that closes.
