The product is a three-flavor line of steamed filled buns: yellow molten custard, brown walnut paste with an embossed shell pattern, and white salted egg yolk. Filled buns are bought on the promise of the filling, so every flavor was photographed twice: whole in the steamer, and halved in chopsticks with the filling exposed. All 6 frames were shot at the AIMI Visual Media studio in Guangzhou, China.

Photography Challenges
1. The filling must flow, but only on cue. A molten center that floods the bun looks messy, and one that sits still looks fake. Each bun is steamed to a timed point, halved, and shot within a two-minute window while the filling moves but does not run off.
2. Three dough colors need one appetite grade. Yellow, brown and white skins go gray or waxy under one flat setting. A warm key at a low raking angle keeps texture in the dough, and each flavor is graded to the same warm family so the trio reads as one line.
3. Chopsticks enter the frame without a hand story. The buns are held in chopsticks with no hand visible, which means rigging: each bun is pinned in place, the chopsticks locked in a clamp, and the whole assembly is shot as a still life.
Our Approach
Establishing steamer frames.
Frames 01-03 place each bun flavor in its bamboo steamer on warm wood, with blurred ingredient props behind: flour bowls and whole walnuts for the walnut bun, a brown egg and dried botanicals for the yolk bun. The props tell the flavor before the caption does.
Cross-section detail frames.
Frames 04-06 tighten to the halved bun alone, filling the frame with the molten or chunky interior. The steamer rim stays at the bottom edge as an anchor, so the detail still reads as a kitchen moment.
Post-production and delivery.
Retouching cleaned condensation from the steamer rims, matched the three dough colors to one warm family, and kept the filling textures exactly as shot. Delivered as 2000x2000px sRGB JPG plus WebP.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is a styled food set like this priced?
Styled creative frames start at $35 per image under our Growth package, so a 6-frame set like this runs from $210 including food styling and retouching. All rates are starting prices, and the final quote depends on your requirements.
How do you keep a molten filling looking fresh in a photo?
Timing. The bun is steamed to a fixed minute, halved, and shot inside a short working window while the filling still moves. The rig holds the bun steady so we can wait for the exact flow.
Can you shoot the plain packshot version too?
Yes. Pure white-background shots for marketplace main images start from $12 per image under our Essential package, delivered at 2000x2000px sRGB with a full commercial license.
How long does a three-flavor food session take?
This set was delivered in our standard 5-7 business day window: styling tests and steam timing first, then the shoot, then retouching and color matching across flavors.
