Year-End Team Portrait Photography

The brief is the year-end commemorative portrait every Chinese company wants in December: the full team in their best workspace, leadership seated, staff behind, with the holiday decor doing the date stamp. The client is a premium property sales team, and the location is their own marble lobby with chandelier, bronze screens and Christmas wreaths. Both frames were shot on location in Guangzhou, China, and delivered under a full commercial license.

Photography Challenges

1. Marble reflects everything, including the photographer. The polished floor mirrors the group, the windows and the camera. The camera position is chosen so the reflection reads as depth, and the photographer works tucked behind the group line so the floor shows people, not equipment.

2. Mixed uniforms and suits read as two companies. Female staff wear matching black coats while leadership wears three different suit tones. The sofa row anchors the leadership in the center, uniformed staff fill the rear rows symmetrically, and the black mass of coats frames the lighter suits instead of fighting them.

3. Ambient lobby light is warm and uneven. Chandelier and downlights mix warm pools with dark corners. A single bounced fill evens the rows without flattening the marble shine, and white balance is set for the faces so the lobby keeps its warm luxury cast without going orange.

4. Celebration gestures date quickly. Thumbs-up and finger hearts are the brief, not every frame. The set shoots one celebratory frame with gestures and one formal frame without, so the client owns both a December post and a year-round portrait from the same lineup.

Our Approach

The celebratory frame.

Frame 1 shoots the full 20-person team with gestures: leadership seated on the teal stools and sofa center, uniformed staff in the rear rows, wreaths and winter windows placing the date. The wide lens keeps the chandelier and marble wall as the luxury context.

The formal frame.

Frame 2 repositions the same group without gestures: three leadership seats on the cream sofa, staff behind the backrest, one playful bunny-ear at the rear left for warmth. The composition follows the standard Chinese corporate convention, leadership centered, ranks behind.

Post-production and delivery.

Marble reflections are kept honest, faces are retouched conservatively, and the warm cast is graded so skin reads natural against the bronze and grey stone. Final files were delivered as 2000px sRGB JPG plus WebP.
