AIMI Visual Media produced a 36-second vertical short video for a personal-care appliance client, presenting a mini dual-voltage hair dryer built for travel portability and worldwide voltage. Shot natively at 750x1000 vertical, 25fps, on Canon 5D Mark IV with a soft-lighting system in a bright care scene, it was delivered in 3 business days, one revision round included, plus a no-subtitle version.

The client, a personal-care appliance brand, briefed us on a mini dual-voltage hair dryer whose pitch is travel: small in the hand, usable on any voltage abroad, no converter plug in the suitcase. We built a bright, high-key care scene around a female model, with the white handheld body and a relaxed in-use mood carrying the picture. Dual voltage gets a subtitle mention rather than a lecture; frequent travelers understand it on sight. The 36 seconds run product reveal, in-use state, then a selling-point subtitle to close.

Creative Concept
A mini dryer sells one feeling: lightness. Light body, light luggage, and a light mental load because the voltage switches itself. We translated that into picture terms: a bright high-key palette, one-hand grip framing and an unhurried morning-care mood, all pointing at an object you toss into a bag without thinking. Dual voltage is not glamorous but extremely practical, so a single subtitle line handles it while the visuals handle the feeling. One scene only, the travel idea, because a vertical short remembered for one image beats one forgotten across three.
Production
We shot on the Canon 5D Mark IV at 25fps in a native 750x1000 vertical frame, working with a soft-lighting system. A white body in a bright white scene is a hard combination, so we added a rim fill on each side of the dryer, leaving a soft gray transition between body and backdrop that keeps the product edge clean, while a small-angle soft light draws the surface gloss so highlights travel naturally across the handheld body. The model’s register is relaxed morning care: bedding, light clothing, an easy smile. Portability needed a reference, so grip shots let the palm circle the body, making smallness self-evident, and a stowed shot hints at suitcase-friendliness. The edit subtracts rather than adds.
Production Challenges
1. A white product on a white set can vanish. Our standard answer for white personal-care products: rim fill on both sides of the body plus a soft gray transition between product and backdrop, so the edge stays clean. A small-angle soft light then draws the gloss, giving the white body shape and shine instead of merging into the background.
2. Portability is invisible without a reference. Small is relative, so the hand does the measuring: grip shots show a palm circling the body, which makes compactness self-evident, and a stowed-look shot quietly suggests suitcase-friendliness. A physical reference communicates size far faster than a dimension figure on screen.
3. Thirty-six seconds punishes clutter. Selling points are touched, never expanded, and one travel scene does all the work, because stacked scenes dilute the lightness theme. The edit subtracts: product reveal, in-use state, closing subtitle, and nothing else. In vertical shorts, the tighter the information, the deeper the memory.

Where the Film Lives
The film fits four positions: the e-commerce main-image video slot, where the bright scene reads clean in the personal-care category; the selling-point block of the detail page, where the travel-portability positioning is obvious at a glance; short-video and seeding channels, where travel-good content carries its own traffic; and cross-border product video slots, since the dual-voltage point lands with overseas buyers too. Personal-care creative refreshes fast, so quarterly batch production is the suggested rhythm.
Small personal-care appliances obey a single-scene rule: pick one situation and let every shot serve it. Here it was travel, and the one image to plant is the little white body sliding into a suitcase. Let the picture carry the feeling and the subtitle carry the spec. — June, Product Photography Team Lead
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you keep dual voltage from sounding dull?
The picture handles lightness, the subtitle handles voltage: a one-hand grip and a relaxed in-use mood carry the portability feeling, while one subtitle line names dual voltage. Frequent travelers recognize the point instantly, so it needs a reminder, not a lecture.
Will a white body blur into a bright background?
No. Rim fill on both sides of the body plus a soft gray transition between product and backdrop keeps the edge clean, and a small-angle soft light draws the surface gloss. White personal-care products on bright sets are a routine setup for us, and separation is guaranteed.
How many selling points fit in 36 seconds?
A vertical short holds one scene and two selling points: here the travel feeling as the scene, portability and dual voltage as the points. More than that dilutes memory, since a viewer can swipe away in half a second. Remaining specs belong on the detail page in text and images.
How is portability shown without a size reference?
The hand is the reference: grip shots show a palm circling the body, so compactness is self-evident, and a stowed-look shot hints at suitcase-friendliness. Physical reference beats dimension numbers for size perception, and it is the standard move in small-appliance films.
How much does a personal-care vertical video cost?
Product videos at AIMI start from $200 per finished video. A project like this, with a model, a styled bright scene and a master plus no-subtitle version, is quoted by brief once your product list, model needs and channel plan are confirmed, so send your details for an exact figure.
What is the turnaround for a video like this?
This project was delivered in 3 business days from shoot to final files, with one revision round included. Single-scene vertical shorts with one model are among the quickest product videos to finish; added scenes, extra models or more deliverable versions extend the schedule, confirmed at quoting.
Are the product claims on screen verified?
Product appearance and in-use states are presented as-is, and functional claims like dual voltage go on screen from the client’s own product materials. Personal-care buyers compare the video against the real item, so honest presentation is the baseline, not an option.
Which placements suit this kind of film?
The e-commerce main-image video slot, the detail page’s selling-point block, short-video and seeding channels for travel-good content, and cross-border product video slots where the dual-voltage point also lands. Vertical specifications differ per platform, so adapt the file and review each platform’s latest policies before launch.
