AIMI Visual Media produced a 35-second vertical short video for a hair-styling tool brand’s automatic curler in dark green with a rose-gold heating mouth. Shot natively at 750×1000, 30fps against a solid gray-green studio background, the film records hair drawn into the V-shaped opening in real time, delivered in 3 business days with one revision round.

The client’s product curls hair on its own: place a strand into the V-shaped opening and the machine draws it in and forms the curl. That action has a naturally satisfying, almost relaxing quality that short-video audiences love, so we built the film around the draw-in moment. The structure runs result first, process second, temperature control last: viewers see the finished wave before they learn how easily it happens, which holds completion rates.

Creative Concept

An automatic curler differs from a traditional curling iron in one word: automatic. No wrapping technique, no waiting skill. Our core shot is the strand slowly drawn into the V-shaped opening: close-up, the hair’s path, the rotation, the curl forming in one continuous take. The reaction we want is that it looks almost too easy, because that is where the purchase impulse starts. A dark-green body with a rose-gold heating mouth gives the film its light-luxury, slightly retro color language, echoed in the subtitle design for the M.N.P temperature-control point.

Production

We shot on a Canon EOS 5D Mark IV with a soft-light system. The rose-gold heating mouth got small-angle light to draw out a warm metallic reflection, while the dark-green body received even soft light that separated it cleanly from the gray-green background: same color family, distinct layers. The model’s warm brown hair pops against the cool green frame, keeping the draw-in path readable. A fixed close-up position with precisely marked model and machine positions kept every draw-in trajectory identical across takes. Subtitles carry the temperature-control claim, worded from the client’s technical documentation.

Production Challenges

1. The draw-in lasts only a few seconds, and the camera has to hold it without a wobble. We locked a close-up position and shot continuously, with model and machine positions precisely marked so every take followed the same trajectory; the smoothest run made the cut. Post adds no speed ramping: the real draw-in speed is the selling point, and buyers can reproduce it at home.

2. Hair near a heating element has to read as safe, not risky. The model’s state carries that message: eyes closed, a relaxed smile, no tension while the strand feeds in. A calm face during real operation convinces far better than a subtitle claiming the device is gentle. We present the actual state of use and let viewers read the safety themselves.

3. Temperature control is invisible, so the claim needed a visual partner. The subtitle states the M.N.P stable-temperature point, worded from the client’s technical documentation, while the pictures show the evidence viewers can judge: even, consistent curls and a relaxed model. Anything touching temperature performance stays inside the product’s test materials, with no exaggerated promises.

Where the Film Lives

Four placements fit this film. On the e-commerce main-image slot, hair being drawn in automatically has strong stopping power in the styling-tool category. In the detail page it anchors the demonstration section, where the convenience is obvious at a glance. On short-video and seeding channels, this kind of satisfying hair content travels on its own. It also suits product-video slots on cross-border platforms, where automatic curlers are an equally hot category; keep the draw-in inside the first three seconds and check each platform’s latest policies.

For tools like this, the buyer’s hesitation is simple: can someone clumsy use it? Our job is to act out the answer. Real speed, real operation, no retouched ease. The simpler the film feels, the better it converts. — June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the draw-in process real footage?

Yes, and it is not sped up: a fixed close-up position records continuously, with model and machine positions precisely marked so the smoothest trajectory makes the cut. The real draw-in speed is the selling point; buyers can reproduce the exact same process at home, which is the foundation of good reviews.

How do you present the stable-temperature claim?

Temperature is invisible, so we split the presentation: subtitles state the M.N.P stable-temperature point, worded from the client’s technical documentation, while the pictures show even curl formation and the model’s relaxed state. Any claim touching temperature performance stays within the product’s test materials, with no exaggerated promises.

Will long hair get pulled? How does the picture show safety?

The model’s state is the best answer: eyes closed, a relaxed smile, and no pulling sensation through the whole draw-in. We show real use and let viewers read the safety themselves; that convinces far more than a subtitle declaring the device gentle on hair.

Will the dark-green and rose-gold colors shift on camera?

There is a dedicated color-check process: small-angle light draws out the rose-gold reflection on the heating mouth, the dark-green body is calibrated against the physical color card, and the gray-green background sits in the same family but on a separate layer. Color difference is controlled by comparison against the real product.

How much does a product video like this cost?

Product videos at AIMI start from $200 per finished video. A scope like this one, with a main cut, a subtitle-free version, and a model on set, is quoted by brief; send your product list and we will return an itemized quote.

Does the model need a specific hair length?

The demonstration pairs best with medium-to-long hair; this model wore long brown hair. If your target customers have short hair, we can cast a short-haired model for another version, since the curl reads differently by length. Choosing the model by your audience profile is the safest route.

Delivery is 3 business days. Can it be rushed?

Standard scheduling is 3 business days from shoot to delivery, including one revision round. Rush can be coordinated down to 48 hours; it rearranges crew and post-production resources, so confirm scheduling and cost with our team before booking.

Can you deliver an English version for cross-border platforms?

Yes. Delivery includes a subtitle-free version, so English selling-point subtitles can be added directly. Automatic curlers are a hot category overseas as well, and the demonstration needs no language. Subtitles are set from your materials, and functional wording follows the target market’s regulations.

Can the matching comb and dryer shoot in the same series?

Yes, and we recommend it. The same model and one consistent tone finish the series in a single booking, so the line looks unified and buyers read the brand’s full styling range. Batch shoots are priced as a package, far more economical than booking each film on its own.

Is 35 seconds a good length for Douyin?

Yes. Satisfying hair content spreads naturally on short-video platforms. Move the draw-in into the first three seconds to hold viewers, and the rest of the process follows. A 15-second feed edit can be cut as well; both versions can be delivered together, with the extra edit billed by workload.
