AIMI Visual Media produced a 42-second vertical short video for a hair-styling tool brand’s electric heated comb in dark green with black teeth. Shot natively at 750×1000, 25fps against a bright high-key studio background, the film presents uninterrupted one-take combing passes on long dark-brown hair, delivered in 3 business days with one revision round.

The product plugs in and straightens as it combs, so its whole promise is one stroke, smooth hair. That promise cannot survive a cut: the moment an edit appears, viewers suspect something happened between frames. We built the film around uninterrupted, full-length combing passes: two to three complete strokes from different angles in 42 seconds. A soft band of light crosses the pale high-key background, and the unhurried rhythm of the film matches the product’s own easygoing character.

Creative Concept

The core selling point, comb once and it straightens, dies the moment it is fragmented. Our core shot is therefore the complete pass: the comb pressed at the crown, sliding at an even speed to the tips, the hair’s change of state visible start to finish. Side profile, back view, and a tips close-up each get one full pass, so viewers verify the same fact from three viewpoints. Dark brown hair against a pale high-key background is the classic lighting logic for straightening demos: every strand reads, and smooth versus frizzy is obvious at a glance.

Production

We shot on a Canon EOS 5D Mark IV with a soft-light system. Rim light from the rear side traced the hair’s edges so the shine travels along the comb’s path, while the dark-green body was calibrated against the physical product for a clean color relationship with the pale background. The model’s action was designed as ordinary morning combing: left hand holding the tips lightly, right hand drawing the comb down at an even speed, no performance. Before takes we rehearsed the stroke rhythm until the angle and speed stayed fixed, then selected the steadiest passes for the cut.

Production Challenges

1. An uneven combing speed quietly undercuts the claim. If the stroke speeds up or slows down, the one-stroke promise loses force. We rehearsed the action rhythm before rolling: comb angle against the hair and descent speed were fixed, so every take matched in stability, and the smoothest passes went into the final cut.

2. Static and flyaways fight the demo in a dry studio. Two controls kept the hair settled: a light base of leave-in hair product before shooting, and studio humidity held in a comfortable range to reduce static. The hair state on screen is a true presentation under natural conditions, with no heavy-handed processing to fake smoothness.

3. The result has to stay honest about whose hair this is. We present the hair’s true state after combing, with no post-production smoothing. A heated comb performs differently on fine, coarse, or naturally curly hair; the film shows the real result on this model’s hair type and does not imply every hair type will match it.

Where the Film Lives

This film fits four placements. On the e-commerce main-image slot, an uninterrupted combing pass argues directly in the straightening-comb category. In the detail page it carries the demonstration section, showing the full one-stroke process. On short-video and seeding channels, quick morning-styling content matches the commuter crowd. It also suits product-video slots on cross-border platforms, where heated combs are an evergreen category. For paid versions, close on the shine at the combed tips, and check each platform’s latest policies before launch.

For function demos, every cut is a small withdrawal from the viewer’s trust. So we shoot the pass whole: in, down, smooth. Buyers sense the difference between recorded and assembled with surprising precision, and that precision is what converts. — June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the combing result one-take real footage?

Yes. Every core shot runs uninterrupted: the comb travels from crown to tips at an even speed, the hair’s change of state visible start to finish, with no edits, no splices, and no post-production smoothing. For function demonstrations, an unbroken take is the highest standard of trust we can offer.

Will every hair type get this result?

The film shows the true result on this model’s hair. A heated comb performs differently on fine, coarse, and naturally curly hair, and we do not imply every hair type will reach the same finish. Related wording also stays within the boundaries of the product’s test documentation.

How did you control static and flyaways?

Two measures. Before shooting, a light base of leave-in product keeps strands settled; during the shoot, studio humidity is held in a comfortable range so less static builds. What you see is the hair’s true state under natural conditions, not an over-processed image.

Does the dark-green body clash with dark-brown hair?

No, it forms a clean color relationship: dark-green body, dark-brown hair, and a pale background each hold their own layer. The body color is calibrated against the physical product’s color card; for personal-care items the finish is part of the appeal, so color difference is controlled by direct comparison.

How much does a product video like this cost?

Product videos at AIMI start from $200 per finished video. A scope like this one, with a main cut, a subtitle-free version, and a model on set, is quoted by brief; send your product list and we will return an itemized quote.

How many passes fit in 42 seconds without feeling repetitive?

Two to three complete passes from different angles: side profile, back view, and a tips close-up. The action repeats but the viewpoint keeps changing, so viewers verify the same fact from fresh angles. That structure is exactly what function verification needs.

Delivery is 3 business days. Can it be rushed?

Standard scheduling is 3 business days from shoot to delivery, including one revision round. Rush can be coordinated down to 48 hours; it rearranges crew and post-production resources, so confirm scheduling and cost with our team before booking.

Do we need to prepare the model's hairstyle ourselves?

No preparation is needed on your side. A stylist completes the basic straight styling before shooting so the hair is camera-ready; hair condition is the foundation of credibility in beauty footage. Styling fees are billed at cost, and casting and direction are confirmed with you in advance.

Can you deliver a version for cross-border platforms?

Yes. Delivery includes a subtitle-free version, so English subtitles can be added directly. Heated combs are an evergreen category in overseas hair markets, and an uninterrupted demonstration needs no language. Subtitles are set from your materials, and functional wording follows the target market’s regulations.

Can this film run together with the automatic curler video?

Absolutely, and we recommend it. The comb owns smooth, the curler owns curl; together they cover the two basic styling needs for a heavily overlapping audience. The pair works well in combined placement or as a series block on the product page, and shooting them together prices better.
