AIMI Visual Media produced a 43-second commercial short for MOFAJIANG’s KING GINGER ginger shampoo, filmed on a bright studio bathroom set softened by white sheer curtains, with a female model presenting the bottle in hand. The master is 1920×1080 full HD at 30fps in 16:9 horizontal, delivered in five business days with one revision.

The client’s KING GINGER shampoo comes in a ginger-yellow square bottle with a matching pump, the character for ginger and the KING GINGER mark embossed on the body. Hair care is a crowded category, and the film had to answer two questions at once: what is this product, and why pick it. Our direction was to translate the ginger concept straight into color, keeping the set and props in the same warm family while a model’s dark glossy hair supplied the cool contrast.

Creative Concept

The core selling point of a ginger wash line is the ingredient concept, so the picture has to make ginger memorable at a glance. The ginger-yellow bottle acts as the visual anchor, and set dressing stays in the same warm register, the product’s own color doing the translation. The model’s long dark hair works as a living after-photo against the warm bottle. The 43 seconds run four beats: concept presentation, scene setting, use demonstration, and a hair-condition close, paced briskly. Subtitles describe scenes only; efficacy wording was checked line by line against the client’s qualification documents.

Production

We shot on a Canon EOS 5D Mark IV with LED fill on a studio-built bathroom set, white sheer curtains softening the key. The main light came from the front side onto the product, with the bottle’s highlight strip held just above the embossed lettering so the ginger character and the English mark stay readable together. Model skin and the ginger-yellow bottle share a warm register, so color temperature was fixed at 5000K with gray-card calibration each setup to keep yellow off the skin. Handheld presentation ran half a beat slow, the pump action got its own close-up, and foam and texture went to a macro lens. Side-backlight rimmed the long hair while soft frontal light kept the face clean.

Production Challenges

1. Ginger yellow is easy to get wrong. Warm light pushes the bottle toward muddy yellow or fluorescent yellow. We set the baseline with a gray card, then sampled the bottle’s spot color in post and matched it against the physical product, so screen color and real color agree for buyers.

2. Long black hair collapses into one mass. A side-backlight drew the strand outline while soft frontal light filled, giving the hair its gloss through controlled contrast ratios rather than post pushing. The condition of the hair is the product’s quiet argument, so it had to read strand by strand.

3. Efficacy claims have compliance lines. Subtitles describe scenes and make no efficacy promises at all. Claim wording was checked line by line against the client’s qualification documents and filing information, and platforms were advised to verify their own advertising rules before any paid placement involving claims.

Where the Film Lives

The film fits four placements: first-screen and main-image video slots on Tmall and JD.com detail pages; hair-care content placements on Douyin and Xiaohongshu (RED), where hair-condition footage holds attention; the brand’s own site and store product pages; and offline supermarket and counter materials. Platforms apply different rules to advertising that touches efficacy wording, so check each target platform’s latest policies before publishing.

Claims have boundaries, but pictures do not. Film the fall, the gloss, and the bounce of washed hair honestly, and the condition of the hair makes the argument no adjective can. — June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you handle efficacy claims in a shampoo video?

Subtitles describe scenes, never promise results. Anti-hair-loss or growth claims sit behind strict compliance lines, so wording is checked line by line against the client’s qualification documents and filing information. For paid placements involving claims, check each platform’s latest policies and advertising rules first.

Do you provide the model, or do we?

Either way. Wash-care films demand specific hair conditions; this film’s model was selected for long, dark, glossy hair. If you have a contracted brand model we work around their schedule; otherwise we cast to the product’s tone, with model fees billed separately at market rates.

Studio set or a real bathroom?

Budget and tone decide. This film used a studio-built bathroom: sheer curtains, shelving, and matching props are all controllable, light stays stable, and efficiency is high. A real bathroom feels more lived-in but the light is unpredictable. Both routes work; the script decides before shooting.

Can the ginger ingredient appear on camera?

Yes, concept visualization is standard practice: ginger slices, juice, or roots share the frame with the product to carry the natural-ingredient feel. This film used the ginger-yellow bottle itself as the anchor. Ingredient wording follows the client’s product documents exactly, with nothing added beyond them.

How much does a wash-care product video cost?

Product videos at AIMI start from $200 per finished video. A scope with a built bathroom set and a model on camera, like this one, is quoted by brief around set complexity, model needs, and lighting difficulty, so send your brief and we will price it line by line.

How long does delivery take? Can we rush it?

Five business days from shoot to delivery with one revision round included. A 48-hour rush is possible when scheduling allows, confirmed with customer service. Pre-sale seasons are peak filming periods, so book at least a week ahead of your listing plan to leave room for revisions.

Where should this film run?

Detail-page and main-image video slots on Tmall and JD.com, hair-care placements on Douyin and Xiaohongshu (RED), the brand’s own site and store pages, and offline supermarket or counter materials. Platforms differ on rules for claim-related advertising, so check the latest policies before publishing.

Why make hair condition the visual focus?

Efficacy wording has compliance boundaries, but the picture does not. Smooth fall, gloss, and volume filmed honestly are more convincing than any adjective. In this category the ingredient concept handles memory while hair condition handles persuasion, so both get screen time.
