A plum lace boudoir catalog session from the AIMI Visual Media studio in Guangzhou, China: three frames of one purple-and-rose lace collection on a mirror-polished black floor, moving from a seated hero through a layered diptych to a smoke-filled recline. Dark lacquer, a mirror floor and backlit smoke: the boudoir register is a lighting exercise before it is a styling one. This session photographed a plum lace collection with dusky rose underlayers across three compositions, each carrying the brand's on-image product code, size and color blocks for the catalog layout. All frames were delivered under a full commercial license as layout-ready masters.

Photography Challenges

1. A mirror floor doubles everything, including mistakes. The polished black floor reflects the model, the product and every light in the room. The key is positioned so the reflection reads as a clean second image, and stray fixtures are flagged out of the floor line before the first frame.

2. Plum on black sinks without discipline. Deep purple lace against dark panels loses its pattern at thumbnail size. A warm key with rim separation lifts the lace edges, and exposure rides a third of a stop under the rose highlight so the two-tone cup construction stays readable.

3. Smoke density changes every frame. Backlit haze that flatters frame 3 floods frame 1. Density is set per composition: thin atmosphere for the seated product read, heavy rolling smoke for the reclined mood frame, each checked on the back of the camera before moving on.

4. Lace texture has to survive the layout. The frames carry overlay text and print at catalog size. The light rakes across the lace applique so the floral relief keeps its structure at zoom, and the overlay zones sit on the quiet panel areas.

Our Approach

The seated anchor.

Frame 1 is the listing lead: the model seated on the mirror floor with legs crossed, the plunge set and its lace applique fully legible, the reflection adding the boudoir register without competing with the product.

The diptych cross-sell.

Frame 2 pairs the mesh chemise layered over the set with the balconette worn alone: one frame sells the sleepwear layer and the bra set, each panel with its own product code row.

The smoke finale.

Frame 3 closes the series with the model reclined through backlit rolling smoke, the warm orange-gelled key carving the lace edges. It is the banner slot of the set, built with clean negative space for the series headline.

Post-production for a dark series.

Reflections are cleaned to a single readable image, smoke frames are graded to one warm curve, and skin texture survives the retouch so the set reads expensive at full-size view.

"A mirror floor gives you two of everything in the frame. Light for the reflection first, and the product reads once." — Garbo, Director of Photography

Frequently Asked Questions

How is a boudoir catalog session priced?

On-model lingerie sessions are billed from $800/day per photography team, with model, makeup, set and smoke effects itemized separately. We quote per project after a brief call.

Can you shoot on reflective floors?

Yes. Mirror floors are planned at lighting design: fixtures are flagged out of the reflection line and the floor is re-polished between compositions.

Can a series mix product frames and mood frames?

Yes. We plan the shot list so product-legible frames and smoke-heavy banner frames share one light map and one session.

What is the turnaround?

Standard delivery is 5-7 business days from shoot day, including retouching and grade matching across the series.

Who owns the images?

Your brand does, under a full commercial license covering catalog, marketplace, social and advertising use.
