Two-Tone Dome Handbag Product Photography

This range arrived as one silhouette in two colorways, and the client needed listing images that made the pair feel like a system rather than two separate products. We built the session around that: matched floating heroes, then one styled scene for the lifestyle slot.

Photography Challenges

1. Matching two colorways in one floating composition. The grey and charcoal shells reflect light differently, so a single exposure setup left one bag flat. Each colorway needed its own light ratio, then a matched camera height so the pair reads as one shot.

2. Controlling gold-tone hardware glare on curved leather. The dome curve sweeps highlights across the fittings. Small speculars are fine; blown metal reads as cheap plating in a listing thumbnail.

3. Keeping the styled scene on-brand without clutter. Props suggest use, but the dome silhouette had to stay the largest shape in frame.

Our Approach

Suspended pair build

Each bag was hung separately and lit for its own colorway, then composited at matched scale and shadow density. The float reads clean at thumbnail size because the contact shadow was rebuilt rather than cloned.

Hardware highlight shaping

Flagged softboxes kept a long, controlled highlight along the dome curve while a card kick kept the clasp metal readable. We exposed for the hardware and let the leather fall a third-stop dark, recovering texture in raw.

Prop scene discipline

For the styled frame we limited props to a low, neutral arrangement and shot from a slightly raised angle, so the bag keeps its height read and the scene stays listing-safe.
