AIMI Visual Media produced a 45 s dark-tone jewelry ad film for a handmade purple enamel ring with a wide band. Shot at 1920×1080 on a black set with a lit jewelry box, falling real petals, and a mirrored acrylic tabletop, the film was delivered in 3-5 business days.

The client makes handmade enamel jewelry, and this wide-band ring, with a purple enamel face in layered tones, had to carry a hand-crafted art-piece positioning. They asked for a film with the manner of a high-end jewelry ad rather than an e-commerce clip. We built the piece on a dark set: the ring standing inside a lit purple-red jewelry box, pink petals falling through the air, and a mirror reflection below. Jewelry shoppers decide within three seconds, so the first frame had to set the tone.

Creative Concept

Dark-tone still life is rarely about dimming the lights; it is about giving black its own layers. The background runs a pure black gradient with one soft gray-white halo low on the left, so the frame has depth instead of dead darkness. The lamp inside the jewelry box makes the ring the brightest point in frame, which locks the viewer’s eye. Real falling petals add motion against the still ring. Every choice serves one idea: the ceremony a handmade art piece deserves.

Production

We shot on a Canon 5D Mark IV with a macro lens, stopped down to f/8 so the full ring face stayed inside the depth of field, and locked 5500K color temperature with a gray-card calibration so the purple enamel matched the physical piece. The jewelry box angle went through more than ten adjustments: the lid had to throw its built-in light onto the center of the ring face, and the box sat at 15 degrees to camera so the reflection stayed true. Petals were thrown by an assistant above camera position; we ran more than forty takes and kept the three loosest trajectories.

Production Challenges

1. Purple enamel shifts color on camera. Purple drifts toward blue or magenta under the sensor, and the gap against the real ring is obvious at a glance. We locked 5500K standard color temperature, calibrated with a gray card on set, then matched the footage segment by segment against the physical ring in the grade until the enamel read exactly like the piece in hand.

2. Petals and the ring wanted different exposures. Falling petals need a slower shutter for motion; the ring close-up needs a small aperture for depth of field. Those light demands conflict, so we shot them as separate passes, each at its own best settings, and composited the petal layer over the ring layer in post. Both layers kept their optimal state.

3. The mirrored tabletop showed every speck of dust. A black acrylic mirror works when it is spotless, and under a dark-tone set every particle catches light. We kept lint-free cloths at the table and wiped the surface continuously through the shoot, resetting between takes. The reflection stayed clean enough to hold the lower half of the composition.

Where the Film Lives

The film’s primary slots are the detail-page mood video and the brand section of the client’s website; it also runs as paid traffic creative on Douyin and Xiaohongshu, where the petal sequence’s first three seconds hold viewers. For cross-border selling we advise splitting duties: a white-background version for the marketplace main-image video, and this dark-tone piece for A+ pages and off-platform social, after checking each platform’s current rules. Offline, the 1080P master is sharp enough for counter screens and exhibition displays.

A ring cannot move, so the frame must: petals, drifting light, a slow push. Keep each one half a beat behind and the stillness reads as ceremony. Signed June, Product Photography Team Lead. — June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a jewelry or ring video cost at AIMI?

Product videos at AIMI start from $200 per finished video. A dark-tone ad film like this one, with real-petal passes, a composited layer build, and three delivery versions, is quoted by brief. Send the piece count, materials, and a reference style, and our team returns an itemized quote the same day.

How long does a ring film like this take?

This ring film was delivered in 3-5 business days: set build and lighting tests, one shoot day for ring, box, and petal passes, then compositing, grade, and captions. Dark-tone pieces need extra prep time for dust control and surface checks, which we build into the schedule from the start.

Are the falling petals real or an effect?

Real. An assistant scattered genuine petals above camera position, take after take; we ran more than forty passes and kept the three with the loosest trajectories. Post work layered them for depth and fine-tuned speed. Real petals fall with a physics no simulation matches at this size.

Why not put the ring on a rotating turntable?

Rotation turns a handmade art piece into a factory-line product. For handmade enamel we recommend the ring standing still inside a lit jewelry box with petals moving around it: the object keeps its ceremony, and the frame gets its motion from the petals, light drift, and a slow push-in instead.

How do you keep the purple enamel accurate?

Purple drifts blue or magenta on sensor, so we lock 5500K color temperature, calibrate with a gray card on set, and grade segment by segment against the physical ring. The delivered film matches the piece in hand, which matters for a product whose selling point is its exact enamel tone.

What does the delivery include?

The full 45 s master at 1920×1080, a caption-free clean version, and a 15 s vertical crop reference for phone-first placements. The clean version lets you re-caption per market. If you also need white-background stills or scene stills, we can shoot them in the same session so color and tone match.

Where should this film run?

It leads the detail-page mood slot and the brand section of your website, and works as paid creative on Douyin and Xiaohongshu. For marketplaces, keep a white-background version for the main-image video and use this dark-tone film on A+ pages and social. It also holds up on counter and exhibition screens.

How do you handle fingerprints and scratches under a macro lens?

A macro lens forgives nothing, so every ring is inspected and polished before the shoot, and handled with gloves on set. Dark-tone lighting hides nothing either: it throws side light across the surface. This inspection routine is part of our standard on-set checklist for jewelry work.

Can this dark style work for a whole jewelry line?

Yes, and consistency across pieces is where the style pays off. We keep the lighting map, box angle, and petal setup on file, so later pieces in the line match the first film frame for frame. Many clients add white-background e-commerce stills in the same session for a unified page.
