AIMI Visual Media produced a 45-second waterproof demo video for a motorcycle digital speedometer with triple time, temperature, and voltage readouts. Filmed in 1920×1080 with a Canon 5D Mark IV and macro lens, the piece submerges the powered gauge in a studio water tank. Delivery ran 5-7 business days.

The client makes a round flush-mount motorcycle gauge that shows green time, white temperature, and red voltage on one dial. Its biggest selling point is waterproofing, but that word alone on a detail page convinces nobody. We proposed proof over claims: sink the gauge completely in a clear water tank, keep it powered by a visible lead-acid battery, and let the three-color digits run underwater while bubbles rise around the bezel. A transparent tank, exposed wiring, and an unedited take make the test believable.

Creative Concept

The strategy is seeing-is-believing. Waterproof claims are cheap in this category, so we built the whole film around one continuous experiment: full submersion, live power, digits still counting. The battery and bare terminals stay in frame on purpose, telling buyers this is a real powered test, not a prop. A blue-green HUD-style label in the corner names the feature while the display keeps ticking from 00:01, temperature at 13 degrees, voltage at 13.3 volts. For motorcycle accessory buyers, an unretouched demo beats any adjective.

Production

We shot on a Canon 5D Mark IV with a macro lens and LED constant lights in a blacked-out studio. Black light-absorbing cloth killed stray reflections so the three-color LED digits became the brightest element in frame, which makes the readouts the natural focal point. A white marble-pattern tabletop against the black background traced the tank outline and picked up the water surface reflection. Exposure was the delicate part: LED segments are far brighter than the scene, so we metered for the digits on full manual and filled the environment with soft light until the green, white, and red numbers all read clean without clipping.

A low-power lamp at the side of the tank lit the water column so rising bubbles stayed visible; those bubbles are the film’s living proof. We locked color temperature at 5500K across every light for consistent digits and water tone. Bubbles clinging to the bezel blocked the numbers, so we waited for even distribution before rolling and changed the water whenever a take failed, picking the cleanest display from more than a dozen attempts. Post covered editing, HUD label design, and color grading, structured as product exterior, triple-display close-up, underwater power test, and waterproof label outro.

Production Challenges

1. Balancing exposure for ultra-bright LED digits against a dark scene. Metering for the environment turned numbers into blobs; metering for the digits crushed everything else to black. We ran full manual exposure keyed to the segments, then brought the set and tabletop up with soft fill until all three colors stayed readable without clipping.

2. Bubbles kept sticking to the bezel and covering the readouts. We waited for the window when bubbles spread evenly before rolling, and if a take looked wrong we drained and refilled the tank. From more than a dozen takes we selected the ones with the most complete, unobstructed display for the final cut of the film.

3. Real powered wiring tends to look messy on camera. We dressed the cables to the frame edges and repositioned the lead-acid battery repeatedly until the layout read honest but tidy. Keeping the terminals visible was deliberate: visible wiring tells the buyer the gauge is genuinely powered underwater, so the frame stays real without turning sloppy.

Where the Film Lives

The 45-second landscape film fits e-commerce detail pages, brand website product pages, and trade-show screens. The underwater segment recut to 15 seconds works as feed-ad material. Many auto-parts sellers ship cross-border, and this demo logic travels: swap captions for multilingual versions and it is ready to run, subject to each market’s claim rules. Still frames pull straight into detail pages, and the underwater power-on frame is a ready-made main image.

A demo film earns trust by refusing to tidy up: we left the wiring exposed and the tank unpolished, because one honest take of a gauge ticking underwater sells waterproofing harder than any adjective we could write. June. — June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a motorcycle accessory demo video cost?

Product videos at AIMI start from $200 per finished video. A multi-deliverable project like this waterproof demo, with a full film, a caption-free version, and segment clips, is quoted by brief. Send product details and key selling points and our team returns an itemized quote the same day.

How long does a waterproof demo video take to produce?

This project delivered in 5-7 business days covering script, shoot, and post. The experiment segment alone needs more than a dozen takes with water changes between them, so we schedule consumables and tank time into the plan from the start.

Is the underwater power-on test safe for the product?

Yes. The gauge is built to a rated waterproof level, and short powered immersion sits within its spec. We confirm the rating with the client beforehand, set depth and duration accordingly, power the unit from a low-voltage battery, and inspect the product between takes under full supervision.

Can the digits stay readable underwater?

Yes, with exposure discipline. LED segments are far brighter than the set, so we meter for the digits on full manual and fill the environment with soft light. A side lamp keeps bubbles visible, and we roll only when bubble distribution leaves the readouts unobstructed.

What does the final delivery include?

The full 45-second film, a caption-free version for repackaging, and each segment as an independent clip. Stills from the underwater power-on frame double as detail-page selling-point images and a ready-made main image for the listing.

Where can this video be used?

Detail pages, the brand website product page, and exhibition screens. The underwater segment recuts to a 15-second feed ad. Cross-border sellers can swap in multilingual captions, checking each platform’s current claim policies before launch.

Can product photos be added during the same shoot?

Yes. White-background stills and installation scene photos can be added in the same session, so the tank setup day produces the full set of listing assets in one booking, keeping product condition consistent across every asset on the page.

Why film a real tank test instead of graphics?

Buyers in this category have seen too many exaggerated claims. Real water, a real battery, and a continuously ticking display answer the waterproof question in one shot, with a credibility no rendered sequence or bold copy line can match.
