AIMI Visual Media produced a 42-second lifestyle commercial for a protein powder positioned toward senior nutrition, mastered at 1920×1080 for brand website, detail-page, and in-person sales use. Shot before 9 a.m. on a park running track with a Canon 5D Mark IV on a stabilizer, the film sells vitality first and lets the product arrive naturally. Delivery took 7-10 business days.

The client did not want a shelf-style product film. They asked for a commercial with a life attitude behind it, aimed at middle-aged and older buyers. We cast a silver-haired male model with fine-framed glasses and a grey track jacket, and set him jogging along a park running track, smiling naturally while shallow focus softens the green trees behind him. The subtitle direction points at energy for every day. Nutrition advertising works in this order: sell the state of life first, and the product becomes acceptable inside it.

Creative Concept

The narrative order was deliberate. The open gives no product at all: park, track, morning light, and a peer who can still run. Older consumers buying nutrition are buying a picture of vitality, so the film builds that picture first. The product appears later, inside the post-run recovery beat where drinking, resting, and refueling form one natural action sequence. Subtitles are short emotional lines timed to the stride rhythm; not one line reads an ingredient table, yet the vitality message lands whole. Casting carries the argument: the model’s steady stride and genuine smile persuade better than any adjective.

Production

Shallow depth of field gives the film its cinema feel. We shot long focal lengths at wide apertures, keeping the model sharp while the trees behind him dissolved into soft green discs, and the reddish track surface ran from a frame corner into the distance as a natural leading line. A stabilizer let the camera travel at the model’s own pace, steady without going rigid. We scheduled before 9 a.m., when the sun sits low and soft and the light flecks between leaves are at their best. A reflector added a catchlight to the model’s eyes, which is where the energy in the smile comes from. Color stayed locked at 5500K. Shot on a Canon 5D Mark IV.

Production Challenges

1. Managing a senior model’s stamina across repeated running takes. Jogging shots need multiple takes, and dense repetition drains an older model. We broke the running section into a dozen-plus short setups of about thirty meters each, with real rest between them, trading storyboard efficiency for on-camera freshness. Short cuts joined in the edit gave the sequence better rhythm anyway.

2. Chasing changing outdoor light. Clouds and tree shadows shift the contrast ratio constantly, and consecutive shots stop cutting together. We batched each setup into one time window, leveled exposure with reflectors and fill, and recalibrated color temperature with a grey card per time block so the sequence matched.

3. Placing the product without turning the film into a hard sell. A nutrition product cut straight into sports footage feels bolted on. We parked it in the post-run recovery scene, where drinking, resting, and refueling are one continuous action, so the placement reads as life rather than advertising. Order does the persuasion work here.

Where the Film Lives

The 42-second horizontal master plays on the brand website, e-commerce detail pages, and in-person sales presentations; on the children-buying-for-parents decision path, a vitality-led film persuades hardest. Cut segments of the run and the state close-ups feed Douyin and WeChat Channels for seeding. Nutrition advertising faces strict review on every platform, so efficacy wording follows the qualification documents and current platform policies should be checked before versions are locked. The scene template series-extends cleanly: same model, same park, new season, new product segment.

Casting is the script. When the model’s stride and smile are true, the product’s promise stands in front of the camera with him, and no adjective has to. — June — June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a protein powder or nutrition video cost?

Product videos at AIMI start from $200 per finished video. A lifestyle commercial like this, with an exterior location, a senior model, and several delivered versions, is quoted by brief once scenes, casting, and length are known. Model fees are itemized separately by on-screen time and licensing scope.

Can you find senior models, and can you guarantee their on-camera state?

We keep partner resources for middle-aged and senior models, matched to the script persona for spirit and image. Casting includes a screen test for camera feel, and the shoot day paces the storyboard to stamina: running setups are kept short with full rest between them. Fees follow screen time and license scope, written into the contract.

How are efficacy claims handled for nutrition ads?

The red lines are results promises and absolute wording. Scripts are checked line by line at the compliance pass: subtitles carry emotional resonance and scene description, and product selling points follow your qualification documents. Platform review rules for nutrition differ widely, so check current policies before placement.

What happens if the weather turns on shoot day?

Every exterior plan carries a weather contingency: we fix the date against a three-day forecast, bring reflectors and fill for light swings, and batch each setup so shots match. A full day of rain means rescheduling at no extra charge; that flexibility is already priced into exterior quotes.

How do you place the product without a hard-sell feel?

The principle is product after state, inside a natural action sequence. Here the product sits in the post-run recovery beat, where drinking, resting, and refueling flow as one action, so the placement reads smooth. We do not build opens around product close-ups; those films waste media budget.

Do we need to find the park location ourselves?

No. We hold long-term partner exteriors, including park tracks and green spaces, and we handle coordination and filming permits. If you have a venue that fits the brand tone, we can use it too; we scout a day ahead and draw camera positions and movement lines into the storyboard.

Why is the film 42 seconds?

Length follows placement: 40-60 seconds is the golden range for brand website and detail-page slots, complete without dragging. This film runs four beats of roughly ten seconds each, friendly to completion rates. For feed placement we cut a separate 15-30 second edit that lands the state in the first three seconds.

How long does production take?

An exterior commercial runs 7-10 business days from script confirmation: two to three days for script and compliance checks plus model and location coordination, one shoot day, and three to four for edit and grade. A 48-hour rush is possible; kicking off about three weeks ahead is recommended.

Can the film extend into a series for the product line?

Yes, and we recommend it: same model, same location style, new product segment per film, so each extra entry’s marginal cost drops noticeably. A unified persona, grade, and subtitle style compounds for long-term brand account building. Series are quoted as a package.

How many revision rounds are included?

Two free rounds after delivery, covering subtitle wording, music, segment order, and grade tweaks; later rounds are billed by workload. Send time-coded notes in one batch and the editor usually returns the new version within 1-2 business days.
