AIMI Visual Media produced a 25-second vertical e-commerce video for a women’s shoe client, presenting two flat styles: an off-white bow ballet flat and a black pair with red sole detailing. Shot native-vertical on Canon 5D4 at 750×1000 and 25fps using natural window light with no model, the still-life piece was delivered in three business days with one revision.

The same women’s shoe client asked for a second vertical piece, this time a style-led display of two flat designs: an off-white round-toe ballet flat with a bow, and a black style with red sole detailing. The pairs stand side by side on a white tabletop against a green wall, with natural light coming in from the left and throwing soft shadows. Again native-vertical at 750×1000, 25 seconds, no model, pure still life, carried by light, arrangement and camera movement.

Creative Concept
Style-driven flats are bought on desire, not need, so the film’s job was to create wanting inside 25 seconds: the lived-in feel of side window light, the refinement of a bow close-up, the sense of choice in two pairs side by side. Shooting without a model leaves buyers room to imagine themselves, unconfined by a specific foot or styling. The green wall against off-white and black keeps the palette fresh without turning sweet, a tone the target buyer reads at a glance.
Production
We shot on Canon 5D4 in vertical composition. Low natural light entered from the left and cast long shadows on the green wall, giving the frame a sense of time and place that hard studio light cannot. Camera movement stayed slow and deliberate: lateral slides and push-ins, from the two-pair wide to the bow close-up, then across to the black pair’s toe detail, three moves in 25 seconds, each with a clear landing point. Side light carved the leather texture; the stamped insole logo stays faintly visible without becoming brand information.
Production Challenges
1. A model-free still life can turn dull inside 25 seconds. We let light and shadow do the acting: shifting natural shadows, slow camera slides that keep the viewpoint flowing, and an alternating rhythm of close-up and wide. The frame is always in motion, so viewers never feel the length, and three clear landing points hold attention through the full runtime.
2. Two pairs side by side can leave the frame without a focus. We fixed a hierarchy before shooting: the off-white bow style takes the primary position and the largest share of close-up time, while the black pair appears as the companion. Equal emphasis means neither shoe gets remembered, so the arrangement was decisive about the lead and kind to the support.
3. Natural window light changes while you shoot. We concentrated the session inside the window where the light angle worked best, trimmed camera parameters as the light moved, and kept the whole film consistent in feel. A full artificial-light plan stood by as backup, so a weather change would switch us over without losing the day.

Where the Film Lives
This style-led vertical film fits four placements: the main-image video slot, where its light quality stands out in the category; the style section of detail pages, where two pairs side by side give buyers a direct comparison; seeding platforms, where the everyday-wearable mood fits naturally; and brand content on social channels. Style products burn through creative fast, so we recommend producing in batches on the same rhythm as new drops, and checking each platform’s vertical specs before placement.
First know why the buyer buys. Comfort purchases need evidence on screen; style purchases need feeling. Natural light is the style film’s free filter, and a multi-pair arrangement must name its lead before the camera rolls. Decide what the shoe is before deciding how to shoot it. — June, Product Photography Team Lead
Frequently Asked Questions
How does a style film differ from a function film?
A function film shoots evidence: perforations, straps, sole press tests, every claim landing on something visible. A style film shoots feeling: light, arrangement and the imagination of wearing it, until viewers want the shoe. This piece is the second kind; buyers here order for aesthetics, so the film’s job is delivering beauty.
Does skipping on-foot modeling hurt conversion?
It depends on the category. For style-driven flats, still-life arrangement gives buyers imagination room instead of pinning the shoe to one foot type, and it avoids the cost and coordination of on-foot work. If you need on-foot imagery, we suggest a second piece and running both, function and style each doing its job.
Is natural light too unstable to rely on?
It is controllable. We concentrate shooting in the window where the light angle is right, fine-tune camera parameters as the light shifts, and keep a consistent feel across the film. An artificial-light backup plan stands ready for weather changes. The lived-in quality of daylight is worth the scheduling effort.
How do you keep a 25-second still life from feeling slow?
Let light and shadow act: changing natural shadows, slow camera slides that keep the viewpoint moving, and an alternating rhythm of close-ups and wides. Three clear camera landing points inside 25 seconds pull attention forward continuously, so even a motionless subject reads with flow.
How much does a video like this cost?
Product videos at AIMI start from $200 per finished video. A model-free still-life scope like this one is quoted against the brief, and shooting multiple pairs or colorways in one session lowers the per-piece cost. Send your style list and channel plan for an itemized quote.
Does a two-pair arrangement split the viewer’s attention?
Not once the hierarchy is fixed. The off-white bow style holds the primary position and the largest share of close-up time, with the black pair appearing as support. Multi-pair display films must name a lead first; spreading attention evenly is the discipline failure that leaves no shoe remembered.
Can the black pair’s red sole detail be shown?
Yes, the red sole appears as a visible design detail. Our copy only describes what can be seen: color, material and decoration. We make no brand associations, and buyers read the detail by their own understanding, which is the safe way to handle this kind of feature in footwear content.
Can you deliver in three days, and what about rush orders?
Three business days is the standard schedule, one revision round included. Rush scheduling can be coordinated, with delivery as fast as 48 hours. Rush work rearranges slots and post resources, so confirm timing and cost with our team; we commit only to what current capacity supports.
Can new styles be shot on a monthly batch plan?
Yes, and we recommend it: one session each month covers that month’s new arrivals, keeps the visual style unified and the asset library stocked, and pricing follows batch volume. Style-led creative gets consumed quickly, so a steady shooting rhythm costs far less than scrambling before every drop.
Can selling-point captions be added for each channel?
The delivery includes a caption-free version, and captions can be overlaid per channel. Style films suit light captions: material, heel height and a styling suggestion. Long blocks of functional copy break the mood. We can settle the exact caption plan together with your placement channels.
