AIMI Visual Media produced a platform demo film running 3 minutes 9 seconds for Siwei Technology, layering function interfaces over real residential footage. Shot on a Sony A7S3 at 4K and 25fps with After Effects interface compositing, the film was delivered in 9 business days.

Siwei Technology sells system capability rather than single devices, and the film had to explain that to property developers, property management groups, and smart home integrators in about three minutes. We built it on real residential footage: a detached house and its garage establish credibility, while vehicle recognition that opens the gate, owner information checks, and open platform integration appear as tracked interface cards riding the camera move.

Creative Concept

A platform product cannot be photographed, so the strategy was real scenes plus information visualization. The garage doorway becomes a dark presentation surface carrying function copy, and a lower-left card explains that the cloud management platform connects smart home systems from different manufacturers and can integrate management platforms from other fields. Cold grey-blue footage against teal highlight bars gives the technology read. Each abstract feature is translated into one everyday scene, so a viewer understands the platform by living through it once.

Production

The house exterior was shot on a Sony A7S3 with the FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM at 25fps, timed for overcast windows so hard shadows would not split the frame, with blurred foreground greenery hiding visual clutter. The garage interior was lit separately with an Aputure 300D II through a softbox for even coverage. Function interfaces were animated in After Effects and composited with camera tracking, so the text cards follow the camera’s perspective and movement. DaVinci Resolve carried the grey-blue grade and Premiere Pro the final edit.

Production Challenges

1. Composited interfaces look cheap when they float. We placed tracking markers on set during the shoot, matched perspective with the After Effects camera tracker in post, and gave every interface element environmental reflections and softened edges. The text reads as if it belongs to the scene rather than pasted over it.

2. Abstract platform functions resist illustration. Each function got one everyday scene: a car pulls up, the system recognizes the plate, the garage door rises. Walking the viewer through a user journey replaced the feature list, and people grasp in one pass what a slide deck could not teach them.

3. Residential exteriors are full of variables. We shot in overcast soft-light windows to avoid harsh sun, agreed the shooting window with property management in advance, and cleared standing water and loose items from the driveway before rolling. A clean plate at capture saved hours of removal work in post.

Where the Film Lives

The full film runs on the Siwei Technology website homepage, in franchise and investor presentations, on booth LED screens at smart home expos, and inside proposals to property developer clients. A 90 second highlight cut and a 30 second vertical version feed Douyin in-feed ads, WeChat Channels promotion, WeChat Official Account articles, and looped playback at industry exhibitions. Function demo frames were pulled for the product manual and pitch decks.

Platform films are translation work. Terms like open platform and cloud management mean nothing until they become a door opening for a resident who never touched a key. One function, one lived scene; that ratio does the selling. — Garbo, Director of Photography

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a smart home demo video take?

On this project, script and storyboard confirmation took 3 business days, the exterior shoot 1 day, and compositing with grading 5 business days, for 9 business days total. Expedited scheduling can compress that to 6 business days; confirm availability with our team.

How much does a smart home platform ad cost?

Platform demo videos are quoted per project based on production complexity and length. We itemize the estimate from your brief: script development, exterior shooting, After Effects interface compositing, edit, grade, and music. Share your brief through our contact page and we return a line-item quote.

What should we provide for a smart home shoot?

A platform feature list, a demo account or interface screenshots, brand VI specifications, and a target audience profile. If real-location shooting is involved, provide a show home or demonstration project address and coordinate filming permission with the property management in advance.

Who writes the script, and how many revisions are included?

Our planning team writes the first draft, with 2 free revision rounds included. For platform products we recommend the product department joins the storyboard review to confirm the order of function demos and the wording, which avoids restructuring the narrative after the film is cut.

What if we have no physical location to film?

That works. Without a real location we use licensed stock footage plus a full post-production route, with every function demo built in After Effects animation, or we construct a 3D virtual residence. Full post-production adds 3 to 5 business days, priced by production volume.

Can our interface screenshots go straight into the video?

They can, but we recommend redesigning them. Raw screenshots rarely match video resolution or style, so we redraw the interface animation to your VI, keeping the core information while unifying the look. Any real user data in the screens is anonymized for the film.

What formats do you deliver, and for which platforms?

Standard delivery is MP4 in H.265. The 16:9 master suits the website, expo screens, and presentations; the 9:16 vertical fits Douyin and WeChat Channels; a 1:1 square covers WeChat Moments. A ProRes 422 MOV master is available for re-editing.

Who handles music licensing?

We select from a licensed music library with commercial rights, included in the quote. If you specify a particular commercial track, you secure that license or we substitute a library track in the same style. The same rule covers fonts, interface assets, and effects.

Can the schedule be expedited?

Yes. The standard cycle is 9 business days, compressible to 6 on an expedited path; confirm scheduling and fees with our team. If the film targets an expo or a launch event, start 2 weeks ahead to leave room for revision rounds.

How do remote clients work with you?

The workflow runs online: scripts co-edited in shared documents, interface plans confirmed over video calls, finals delivered by cloud transfer. Platform documentation moves through encrypted links, and a non-disclosure agreement can be signed. Roughly 30 percent of our clients are outside Guangzhou.
