AIMI Visual Media produced a 55 second brand ad for the Zhiyan clothes dryer, told from a young woman’s first-person perspective in a soft-lit studio bedroom. Shot on a Canon 5D Mark IV in true 4K (4096×2160) at 25fps, the film reached final delivery in 7 business days with one revision round included.

Zhiyan’s team asked us to break the home-appliance formula of machine plus parameters and speak from the user’s side instead. Our answer was a female first-person slice of life: a young woman in a soft-lit bedroom interacts with the camera as if filming herself, and the caption “a woman should care for herself, anytime, anywhere” lands the dryer’s value on an insight about washing and drying delicates at home. The palette stays in white, off-white, and light wood; the mood is clean and warm.

Creative Concept

The narrative order is deliberately reversed: the first 15 seconds are all person and life, and the dryer enters only in the middle. Completion rates on appliance ads die in the first 5 seconds of “ad smell,” so we first let the viewer recognize someone like herself at ease in her own room. Once that identification holds, the product reads as part of her life rather than something being sold. Captions take the self-care line and make no performance claims, an attitude-first register that matches the young female audience Zhiyan wants to reach.

Production

At 4K, every skin detail is magnified, so the soft-light plan had to keep up. A large softbox keyed from 45 degrees front-side, white bedding acted as natural bounce, and the ratio stayed inside 1:2 for even, transparent skin. Depth of field sat at f/2.8, letting pillows and headboard dissolve into soft color blocks. The selfie-style shots used the wide end at close range to mimic a phone’s front camera, so the viewer feels she is on a video call. Footage was recorded at 4096×2160 and finished as both a 4K master and a 1080p channel version.

Production Challenges

1. Lifestyle narrative collapses the moment the actor starts “acting.” We shot on vlog logic: situational tasks instead of prescribed moves. Once the camera rolled she tidied clothes and settled into the bed at her own pace, and we caught real reactions rather than rehearsed poses. Naturalness was protected by taking direction off the floor.

2. True 4K footage puts real pressure on post. Single clips ran to tens of gigabytes. Edit and grade stayed inside a 4K project, with multi-version transcoding only at the end. That pipeline adds roughly a day over a normal job, and it was written into the 7 business day schedule from the start.

3. The product’s entrance had to feel inevitable, not inserted. The dryer first appears inside the clothes-tidying action mid-film, carried by the scene instead of a hard close-up. The caption states the selling point at the same moment, so product, action, and line arrive together and the transition reads clean.

Where the Film Lives

The film fits brand-side and content-side placements: the flagship store homepage video, the mood section of the e-commerce detail page, lifestyle placements in content communities, and experience-zone screens in offline stores. The 4K master can go straight to expo big screens and TV. For feed ads we recommend a sub-30 second cut from the product’s mid-film section with the caption selling point front-loaded; platform rules on length and wording differ, so review the latest policies before placement.

Female perspective is not “a woman in the frame.” It is a narrative position: this film says “I deserve gentle treatment,” and the dryer is just the carrier of that attitude. Write the claim as a stance, not a slogan, and the camera can stay close. — Garbo, Director of Photography

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a dryer ad really need 4K?

It depends on placement. Expo big screens, TV slots, and a high-definition brand website position all call for a 4K master; mobile feed alone can live on 1080p. We shot 4K and output 1080p in the same job, so one production covers every channel without a reshoot later.

Does the selfie style look unprofessional?

It is a deliberate style choice, meant to dissolve the ad feel and build closeness. The craft stays professional underneath: soft lighting, 4K capture, careful grade. Only the lens language borrows the everyday recording look, which is exactly the point of lifestyle narrative.

How do you keep the captions compliant?

The captions here run on life attitude: “care for yourself” is an emotional position with no performance claims and no absolute wording. Where appliance copy touches functions like sterilization or mite removal, every line needs the product’s test report behind it before release.

The product appears mid-film. Is that too late?

It enters around 15 to 20 seconds, and that is the design. Lifestyle narrative builds identification first, so the dryer arrives as part of her life. Opening on the machine kills completion rates; the first 15 seconds are the setup that makes the product welcome.

How do you visualize drying results without parameter shots?

Shoot the outcome, not the spec: a fluffy towel, soft close-fitting clothes, the shake-out moment straight from the drum. Those images translate “dries well” into something the viewer can feel. For detailed function demos we suggest a separate function-led short cut.

Was the bedroom a real home?

No, it was a set built in our studio, dressed to plan with bedding, headboard, and light wood walls. Studio control keeps the soft light consistent and the weather out, and set details hold up under 4K close-ups. On-location home shoots are also possible after a scout.

How is a film like this priced?

Quoted per project, itemized from your brief: set build, casting, 4K post, and version count are listed line by line. Share your product, channels, and version needs through the contact page and we will return a detailed proposal.

Are actor fees included in the quote?

Casting is billed separately by type and session length, and candidates are sent as cards or audition clips for your confirmation first. This film needed naturalness on camera more than looks, so we cast from screen tests rather than portfolios.

How long from shoot to delivery?

Seven business days here, with one revision round included. A 4K pipeline adds about a day of post over a standard job. If you are racing a launch date, rush scheduling down to 48 hours can be arranged; confirm slots and rush fees with our team.

Can you cut multilingual versions from this film?

Yes. The delivery includes a clean version without captions, so English or other languages can be laid on easily, which suits cross-border plans. Have the brand side or a qualified translator confirm the wording, since function claims must match each market’s rules.
