The client was a womenswear seller listing white summer tops, a short-sleeve tie-waist style and a ruffled square-neck peplum camisole, pieces that sell on looking fresh and easy. We staged the pair in our Nordic-style kitchen set: wooden counter, white square tiles, a big window with blinds, and cream walls, lit soft and bright so the whites stay clean without going sterile. Two frames, one model, delivered with a full commercial license.

Photography Challenges
1. White tops in a white kitchen The set's tile, counter, and walls are all near-white, and a white top photographed carelessly in it becomes a torso-shaped hole in the picture. We worked the model against the set's wood tones and the window's darker lines, and metered for the fabric so the walls could sit bright behind. The tops keep their edges and their texture, and the kitchen keeps its airy feel.
2. Ruffles and peplum frills flatten in flat light The camisole's ruffled neckline and peplum flare are its features, and soft even light, the same light that makes a kitchen feel Nordic, irons them flat. We angled the key off the window axis so each ruffle casts a fine shadow line, and had the model turn a half step so the peplum's flare overlaps the body with depth. The frills read dimensional, not printed on.
Our Approach
Lighting
Position: soft window-led key from the set's bright side, angled off-axis for ruffle shadows, white fill from the camera position. Settings: exposure metered for the white fabric, walls held at bright. Why: white-on-white interiors are an exposure and positioning problem, and the ruffles add a light-angle problem on top, so the key is placed for texture and the model is placed for separation.
Camera and exposure
Canon EOS R5, RF 50mm f/1.2L at f/2.8 for both frames, ISO 100-200, 1/200s. Why: one lens keeps the kitchen's scale honest across both frames while f/2.8 softens the tile grid just enough to sit behind the tops.
Set and series
One kitchen set, two assigned positions, wooden counter for the tie-waist frame, window wall for the camisole frame. Why: two frames with two jobs give a two-SKU seller a complete, non-repeating pair in one setup.
"White-on-white is where lazy exposure goes to die: the room is bright, the top is bright, and the photo still has to choose which one wins. We choose the fabric every time, and let the kitchen be bright around it. That hierarchy is how our photography team shoots every pale-palette brief." — Garbo, Senior Photographer

Frequently Asked Questions
What does a two-frame interior series cost?
On-model studio photography starts at $35 per image under the Growth tier, so a 2-image series like this one starts around $70, with model fees quoted separately. All rates are starting prices; our 2026 pricing guide breaks down the tiers.
How do you keep white clothes from disappearing into a white set?
We place the model against the set's wood tones and darker window lines, meter for the fabric, and let the walls sit bright behind. In these frames the tops keep their edges and texture while the kitchen stays airy, which is a positioning decision, not a retouch trick.
How do you photograph ruffles so they look dimensional?
Angle the key. A soft source moved off the window axis lets each ruffle cast a fine shadow line, and a half-turn of the model lets the peplum overlap the body with depth. Flat frontal light is what irons frills into the fabric.
Can two different tops share one set and one session?
Yes, that is exactly how this pair ran: tie-waist top at the wooden counter, camisole at the window wall, same model, same light recipe, one setup. Shared sessions are the cheapest way to cover a multi-SKU drop.
How fast does a two-top pair deliver?
These 2 images were delivered in 2 business days: a short studio session, same-day culling, one day of retouching.
Do interior frames like these work on marketplaces?
Yes. The full commercial license covers store, marketplace, and advertising use, and we deliver high-resolution masters plus web-ready crops for each listing slot.
White tops that need to stay crisp in a bright room?
Apparel photographed in our styled Guangzhou interiors, with model, styling, and full commercial license included from $35 per image.
