AIMI Visual Media in Guangzhou, China shot this Valentine's-themed set for a handbag brand's heart-handle mini bag line: 6 styled images covering 4 color-block colorways, delivered in 5 business days at 2000x2000px sRGB. Every prop on the pink set is matte white or glass, so the saturated bags carry all the color. See more of this category in our bags and accessories photography gallery.

The client is a women's handbag brand preparing a Valentine's Day drop: a structured mini bag whose top handle is a cutout heart, sold in four two-tone colorways — hot pink with lime, white with sky blue, black with hot pink, and royal blue with mustard. They needed campaign images that sell the romantic shape without slipping into wedding-catalog cliché. We built one pastel-pink world at our Guangzhou studio and shot the full line in a single half-day session, keeping the same light recipe across every colorway so the collection reads as one family.

Photography Challenges

1. Glossy, saturated leather fights soft light. The shells are smooth and high-shine, and colors like hot pink and royal blue blow out fast: the same softbox that keeps the white bag creamy turns the pink one into a flat neon patch. We metered exposure for the brightest panel first, then pulled the key light farther off-axis so the highlight walks along the panel edge instead of sitting in the middle of it.

2. The signature handle is a thin outline. The heart handle is the reason this bag exists, but it is a 3cm-wide padded loop, and against busy props it disappears. Every prop on set is matte white or clear glass on purpose: nothing competes with the handle's silhouette, and the heart-shaped light patch projected on the backdrop echoes it.

3. Four colorways in one frame contaminate each other. Put a lime-green panel next to a hot-pink one and each borrows the other's color cast. For the group frame we spaced the bags in overlapping front-and-back pairs with a few centimeters of pink backdrop between them, then cleaned up the residual spill per panel in post.

4. Glass props go muddy on a pink set. Amber liquid in a clear glass picks up whatever sits behind it, so on a pink set it turns into rose-colored mush. We flagged the backdrop light off the glasses and gave them a small dedicated source from behind, so the drink glows amber instead of staining pink.

Our Approach

One set, one light recipe, four colorways

We locked the camera on a tripod at eye level and never moved the lights between bags. A large softbox camera-left at about 45 degrees does the key work, a white fill card camera-right lifts the shadow side just enough to keep the stitching readable, and a gobo projects the soft heart patch onto the seamless pink backdrop. Because nothing moves, the pink frame and the blue frame share identical light geometry: swap the bag, shoot, done. That is what makes five frames feel like one campaign.

Props that explain the bag without touching it

Two stemmed glasses with an amber drink say date night, the small white mountain ornaments fill dead space at the frame edges, and the detachable shoulder strap gets its own little heart stand in frame 04, so buyers learn the bag converts from top-handle to crossbody without reading a word of copy. Every prop is matte or transparent; the only saturated objects in the picture are the bags themselves.

Post-production: four colorways, one truth

Each colorway was matched against the client's physical swatches under D65 light, not by eye on a monitor. We pulled specular hotspots down about half a stop on the pink and blue panels, kept texture in the white bag's stitching, and exported at 2000x2000px in sRGB, large enough for Amazon's zoom and clean enough for paid social crops.

"A heart-shaped handle sounds like a gimmick until you light it like architecture: keep the set quiet and let that one outline do all the talking." — June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions

What would a 6-image styled set for a mini handbag line cost?

Styled scene images like these start from $35 per image under our Growth package, so this 6-image set would start around $210. If you also need pure white-background versions for Amazon main-image slots, those start from $12 per image under Essential. All rates are starting prices, and the final quote depends on your specific requirements.

Can a Valentine's campaign set still ship inside a normal week?

This 6-image set was delivered in 5 business days from sample arrival. The one-set-one-recipe approach is what keeps multi-colorway sessions fast: the lights never move, so each additional colorway adds about 20 minutes of shooting instead of a whole new setup.

How do you stop four colorways from looking like four different shoots?

Yes, and that is the whole point of locking the set. Camera, lights, and backdrop stay fixed while bags rotate through a marked position, so every colorway shares the same shadows and highlights. In post we match each panel to your physical swatches under D65 lighting rather than guessing on screen.

Can you show the detachable strap without a separate shoot?

Yes. We gave the chain-and-leather strap its own mini heart stand inside frame 04, right next to the bag, so one image teaches both carry styles. If you want a standalone strap frame for a variation listing, we add it as one extra styled image from $35.

Can you build a themed set for our own campaign date?

Yes. This Valentine's set used a pink seamless, a heart gobo, and under 10 matte props; a similar themed build for Christmas, a launch day, or a brand color typically adds one prep day for propping and test shots. Tell us the date and the hero product, and we design around both.

Will these images work for Amazon and paid social?

The 2000x2000px sRGB files exceed Amazon's 1000px zoom minimum, and the square crop survives feed and story formats. For the main image slot you still need a pure white-background version, which is the $12 Essential add-on shot in the same session.
