A twelve-sign artwork system applied to hard-shell spinner luggage, delivered as on-screen review mockups: each sign gets its own palette and character, wrapped onto the curved case shell so the client judges placement and scale before committing to physical samples. More work from this category lives in our bags and accessories photography services page.

Before a single shell was sampled, this luggage range existed only as artwork. Our job was the design system and the visualization: twelve zodiac variants built on one shell template, rendered honestly enough for the client to approve or reject each sign with confidence.
| Project Overview | |
|---|---|
| Project type | Surface artwork design and product visualization for spinner luggage |
| Deliverables | Print-ready artwork variants plus hard-shell mockup renders |
| Review format | Grid layouts and on-screen mockup review with the client |
| Design system | One character and palette per zodiac sign on a shared shell template |
| Usage | Pre-sampling design approval and factory artwork handoff |
Design and Visualization Challenges
1. Keeping twelve variants inside one system. Each sign needs a distinct palette and character, yet the range must hang together on a retail wall. The grid review exists to catch any variant that drifts from the shared template.
2. Mapping flat artwork onto a curved shell. Hard-shell corners and the telescoping handle interrupt the print field. Artwork placed without a shell map lands distorted at the corners or sliced by hardware.
3. Making mockups honest enough for approval. A render that flattens gloss or hides the handle gives the client false confidence. The mockup must show shell shine, hardware cutouts and true print scale.
Our Approach
Template-first artwork
We built one master shell template with locked safe zones for the handle, corners and wheel base. Every sign uses the same zones, so the range reads as a family even before color is considered.
Shell-accurate mapping
Artwork was warped onto the three-dimensional shell shape rather than pasted flat, which keeps character faces centered and glyphs readable after the case curves away.
Review-ready rendering
Mockups carry the real gloss level of polycarbonate and correct handle shadows, delivered in grid layouts so the client can compare signs side by side and sign off variant by variant.
"Surface design for luggage is won at the template stage. Lock the safe zones once, and every variant after that is a palette decision instead of a geometry argument." — June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you design print artwork for luggage and bags?
Yes. We build the artwork system and the shell-accurate mockups in one place, so what the client approves is what the factory receives, safe zones included.
Why review designs on mockups instead of flat art?
A suitcase is not a poster. Curves, handles and wheels cut the print field, and only a shell-mapped mockup shows whether a character survives the geometry.
Do you also photograph the finished luggage after sampling?
That is the usual flow: design approval on mockups, then studio photography of the sampled shells for listings, keeping artwork and final images visually consistent.
Developing a printed luggage or bag range?
Bring the concept and the shell spec. We will build the artwork system, the review mockups and, after sampling, the listing photography.
