The client is a women's accessories brand launching an evening line: a red quilted flap bag with a chain strap, and a cognac bowling bag built for city nights. Evening products are bought on atmosphere, not specifications, so the campaign split between a baroque studio set dressed with a crystal chandelier and a rococo mirror, and a real night location on a city bridge. AIMI Visual Media shot both halves with one model, one styling direction, and one rule: every element in frame earns its place.

Photography Challenges
1. Product over face, a focus tug-of-war The hero composition half-masks the model with the bag, which puts the clasp and her eye in the same focal plane fighting for attention. The decision was made per frame: where the clasp is the story, light was weighted onto the bag and her eye falls a touch softer; where the gaze is the story, the reverse. A composition like this fails when both shout at once.
2. Red leather in a low-key set Underexpose a red bag against black and it dies to burgundy; overexpose to save it and the quilted domes flatten into one red sheet. Exposure was metered off the red channel with the key feathered across the quilting, so each dome keeps its own highlight and shadow edge. The red stays loud and the quilting keeps its geometry.
3. Baroque props that sparkle out of turn Chandelier crystals and a scrolled silver mirror catch pinpoints of light and start competing with the product. Both were kept well out of focus and lit by their own low accent, so they read as atmosphere, a texture of wealth behind the bag, rather than as objects with their own claims.
4. Night air runs two color temperatures The bridge location mixes sodium streetlight around 2200K with the strobe key at 5500K, and skin shot straight into that mix goes orange at the edges. The key was gelled to a warm-neutral midpoint and the ambient underexposed about two stops, so the model and the leather stay clean while the city keeps its amber glow.
Our Approach
A half-mask composition that sells the clasp
Position: the bag on the left third of the frame covering half the model's face, her visible eye on the right third, chandelier behind. Settings: 85 to 105mm at f/2.8 to f/4, focus on the clasp with the eye a breath softer. Why: hiding half the face makes the bag the mask, and the viewer completes the face while studying the clasp. It is the oldest evening-ad device because it works.
Studio baroque, lit for one red
Position: an octabox key raised above eye level at camera-right, weak fill at camera-left, the chandelier on its own low accent light, black fur and charcoal wall as the ground. Settings: red-channel metering, white balance locked at 5500K. Why: in a set this dark, the eye goes to whatever holds the most saturated color. Lighting for one red means the bag is the only warm object in the room.
A night bridge with the city as backdrop
Position: the model on the left third against the parapet, cognac bag at her side, traffic and streetlamps thrown out of focus behind. Settings: a large softbox on location as key, ambient down two stops, 85mm at f/1.8 for bokeh. Why: evening bags are sold to evening. A real city at night gives the product its natural habitat, and the underexposed ambient keeps the strobed leather the brightest thing in the dark.
"Premium is a subtraction exercise. Black fur, black wall, one red bag: every element left in the frame has to earn its place. — Garbo" — Garbo, Director of Photography

Frequently Asked Questions
What does a 4-frame model campaign cost?
Model campaign frames start at $35 per image under our Growth package, so this 4-image set starts around $140, with the model, styling, and location costs quoted separately against the brief. All rates are starting prices, and a mixed studio-plus-location plan is quoted as one project.
How long does a campaign with a location half take?
These 4 frames were delivered in 4 business days: one day for the baroque studio set, one evening for the bridge location, and the rest for selection, retouching, and grading the two halves into one campaign.
Can you mix a studio set and a real location in one campaign?
Yes, and for evening products it is the strongest structure: the studio half gives controlled luxury, the location half gives the product its natural habitat. Both halves here share one model, one styling direction, and one grade, so they read as one story.
Who coordinates makeup and styling?
The studio coordinates the stylist as part of the campaign quote. Here the lipstick was matched to the bag's red and the wardrobe kept to black fur, so the product is the only saturated color in the frame.
What license comes with campaign images?
A full commercial license covering advertising, listings, social, and print, with no per-channel or per-term fees. Model usage is covered for the agreed campaign scope in the quote.
How do you keep red leather alive in a dark set?
By metering the red channel on its own and feathering the key across the quilting, so each dome keeps a highlight and a shadow edge. Underexposed red dies to burgundy, overexposed red flattens to plastic, and the fix lives in a third of a stop.
Do you handle night shoot logistics?
Yes. The bridge location was scouted by the team for sightlines and ambient color, and the lighting kit for a night exterior is one softbox, one stand, and battery power, so the footprint stays small and the evening stays on schedule.
Evening bags deserve more than a white sweep?
Baroque studio sets, night city locations, and lighting built for one red, from our Guangzhou team, from $35 per campaign image with a full commercial license.
