The product is a three-piece personal care gift set: two 300ml matte black pump bottles and a smaller amber glass bottle, nested in a flocked black foam tray inside an ivory rigid box. The client sells it as a holiday and corporate gift, so the packaging had to appear in the frame as part of the product, not as an afterthought. The set was styled and photographed at the AIMI Visual Media studio in Guangzhou, China, and the final frame was delivered under a full commercial license.

Photography Challenges

1. Black bottles on a black foam tray. The two pump bottles sit in a flocked black insert, and matte black on flock black is the same value with a different texture. Flat light merges them into one dark mass and the gift looks like an empty box. A soft source raked across the tray puts a thin bright edge on each bottle shoulder while the foam stays a touch darker, so bottle and tray read as two separate things.

2. The lid has to sell the unboxing without hands. A closed box tells the buyer nothing, and a lid set fully aside looks like a catalog packshot. The lid is propped against the tray at a resting angle, the way someone sets it down after opening, so one frame shows the ivory exterior and the bottles inside. The angle is tuned so the lid edge stops just short of the tallest cap. All three products stay readable.

3. Amber glass in front of a bright window. Lit only from the front, amber glass goes muddy brown. Left against the window alone, it turns into a dark silhouette. The exposure splits the difference: the window glow rims the glass edges while a white fill card keeps the front face readable, so the bottle reads as glass with liquid inside, not a brown block.

4. Props that scale the box without crowding it. A gift box on an empty table gives the buyer no size reference. The potted fern on the shelf and the small candle at the right edge place the box in a bathroom or on a dresser and tell you its rough size at a glance. Each prop sits at the frame edge, far enough out that the box stays the subject.

Our Approach

A composition built around the open box.

The box sits centered on a pale wood table, shot from near tabletop height so the viewer looks slightly down into the tray, the same view you get opening it yourself. A 50mm prime at f/8 keeps every bottle and the lid print sharp, and the camera is leveled so the box edges run true. The lid leans at the left, the candle balances the right, and the shelf plant fills the upper-left corner of the frame.

Window light with studio discipline.

The key is warm daylight through a sheer curtain behind the set, which wraps the ivory box in soft, directionless light and leaves no hard shadow on the table. A white fill card at camera right lifts the bottle fronts just enough to read the caps and print, and a black flag just out of frame keeps the pump bottles from picking up the bright window as a milky reflection.

Props that place the gift in a home.

The pale wood table and matching shelf warm up the black-and-ivory palette and signal where the set lives after purchase. The fern and the unlit candle are deliberately small and at the edges: they add scale and a lived-in feel, and nothing crosses the box outline, so the product silhouette stays clean.

Post-production and delivery.

Retouching trued the box verticals, cleaned fingerprints from the matte bottles, and held the window area just below clipping so the glow stays believable. The final file was delivered as 2000x2000px sRGB JPG plus WebP, ready for the brand's website and gift campaign pages.

"The lid is the whole story in a gift set shot. Prop it where the frame shows the inside and the outside at once, and the box sells itself." June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a gift set hero shot like this cost?

Styled frames like this one start at $35 per image under our Growth package, so this single hero shot costs $35 including set styling and retouching. Pure white-background versions of the same set start at $12 per image under our Essential package. All rates are starting prices, and the final quote depends on your requirements.

How long does a gift set shoot take?

This frame was delivered in 6 business days, inside our standard 5-7 business day window: days 1-2 for styling and lid-angle tests, day 3 for the shoot, days 4-6 for retouching and delivery.

Will this frame work for Amazon and our brand site?

Yes for the brand site, gift campaigns and A+ Content, delivered at 2000x2000px sRGB. Amazon's main image slot still requires the product alone on pure white, which we shoot in the same session at $12 per image under the Essential package.

Can you show the unboxing without a model or hands?

That is exactly what this frame does. The lid is propped at a resting angle that reveals the foam tray and all three bottles while still showing the ivory exterior, so the buyer reads the opening moment with no hands in frame.

Our set has black bottles in a black insert. Can they be separated?

Yes, with directional light rather than more light. A soft source raked across the tray puts a bright edge on each bottle shoulder while the foam stays slightly darker, which is what separates the two blacks in this frame.

Can the same setup cover our seasonal box variants?

Yes. The set map, lid angle and light positions are documented per session, so a holiday variant or a new scent drops into the same composition and the campaign frames stay consistent.
