A monochrome campaign where wardrobe, backdrop and packaging share one emerald value: a model presents a slim treatment tube and a faceted glass cream jar, directed between frontal assurance and closed-eye serenity, captured in two complementary hero frames for the launch. The brand wanted the packaging green to become the whole world of the campaign. We matched the blazer and the seamless backdrop to the product in pre-production, then directed two complementary reads of the same woman: one looking straight at the buyer, one lost in the ritual of using the cream.

Photography Challenges

1. Matching three greens that were never made together. Fabric, paper and packaging each read emerald differently under studio light. A half-stop shift turns one of them muddy and the monochrome idea collapses.

2. Keeping satin packaging legible on a model. The metallic tube picks up glare the moment a hand rotates it. The product has to read as a premium object, not a green streak of highlights.

3. Directing serenity without sleepiness. The closed-eye profile sells ritual and calm; directed one degree too far it reads as tired. The difference lives in chin angle and hand placement, not expression.

Our Approach

Pre-production color lock

We gel-corrected the key light until blazer, backdrop and tube landed on the same emerald value in-camera, then froze that setup for the whole session. The red lip stayed as the single warm accent by design.

Product-hand choreography

For the tube frame the product rests across the shoulder with fingers behind it, so nothing crosses the label. For the jar frame it sits in an open upturned palm at chest height, angled to catch one controlled highlight on the rose-gold glass.

Two-pose direction

The frontal frame was directed chin-down with a closed-lip smile for assurance; the profile frame chin-up, eyes closed, hand to neck for the ritual read. We shot the assured frame first so the model warmed into stillness.

"Monochrome campaigns are won in pre-production. If the three greens do not match on the day, no retoucher will marry them afterwards." — Garbo, Director of Photography

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you build a monochrome campaign around packaging color?

Yes. We sample the packaging color in pre-production, match wardrobe and backdrop to it, and lock the light so all three hold the same value through the session.

How do you direct models for skincare campaigns?

Skincare direction is about ritual, not fashion. We block hand-to-face and product-palm poses, keep expressions small, and shoot assurance and serenity as two separate reads.

Do you handle wardrobe and styling for beauty shoots?

Yes, styling is part of the campaign design. Here the blazer existed to complete the monochrome system; wardrobe is chosen to serve the product, never to compete with it.

Planning a color-driven skincare campaign?

Send the packaging and the positioning. We will design the color system, cast the model and deliver frames where the product owns the palette.
