About This Skincare Serum Ampoule Photography Project
The Challenge
A medical-grade skincare brand specializing in collagen ampoules needed product imagery that conveyed both clinical credibility and premium positioning. The ampoules—small glass vials containing recombinant collagen essence—required photography that highlighted their transparent purity and precise pharmaceutical packaging. The client needed images suitable for e-commerce listings, medical aesthetics clinic displays, and social media campaigns targeting consumers who value science-backed skincare.
Our Creative Approach
We developed a dual-background strategy to serve different marketing channels. The shoot produced 3 distinct compositions:
- Black background open-box presentation — showcasing the full ampoule array in its tray, emphasizing quantity and clinical precision
- Black background angled composition — a 45-degree overhead view revealing both the branded packaging and the neatly arranged glass vials inside
- White background high-key shot — clean, bright imagery optimized for e-commerce product listings and medical platform requirements
Lighting & Technical Execution
Photographing transparent glass ampoules demands precise light control. We used diffused overhead lighting with side fill to render the liquid's clarity without creating distracting hotspots on the curved glass surfaces. For the black background shots, edge lighting defined the ampoule silhouettes while allowing the collagen solution inside to appear luminous. The blue accent labels served as natural color anchors in an otherwise monochromatic palette. On the white background variant, we increased fill intensity to eliminate shadows entirely, meeting the strict requirements of medical product listing platforms.
Results & Brand Impact
The black background imagery established the brand's premium medical-aesthetic positioning, performing strongly in clinic point-of-sale displays and WeChat marketing. The white background version met platform compliance for JD Health and Tmall Medical listings. The open-box presentation style—showing dozens of ampoules in formation—effectively communicated value and treatment course duration, a key purchase driver in the collagen skincare category.
