About This Skincare Lotion Photography Project
The Challenge
A skincare startup launching their signature beauty cream needed product imagery that communicated both the gentle, feminine brand identity and the premium quality of their formulation. The pastel pink packaging with handwritten-style branding required photography that preserved the soft, approachable aesthetic while still looking professional enough for marketplace listings and social media campaigns. The client needed two distinct image types from a single session: clean white-background shots for e-commerce platforms and a lifestyle composition showing the product in use to build consumer trust.
Our Creative Approach
We designed a two-part shoot strategy to maximize the visual assets from one production day. The first setup focused on a pure white-background hero shot with the jar sealed, presenting the product exactly as a customer would receive it. The second composition opened the jar to reveal the cream texture inside, with the lid artfully positioned alongside — giving potential buyers confidence in what they are purchasing while showcasing the decorative floral details on the cap interior.

Lighting and Technical Execution
Soft, diffused lighting was essential to preserve the delicate pastel pink tones without washing them out or creating harsh reflections on the frosted surface. We used a large overhead softbox as the key light with white bounce cards on both sides to fill shadows evenly. The matte finish of the jar required careful light placement to avoid hotspots while maintaining enough contrast to define the cylindrical form. For the open-jar shot, additional fill was directed into the cream surface to capture its smooth, even texture. Color accuracy was critical — the pink needed to match the physical product exactly for e-commerce compliance.
Results and Application
The two-image set provided the client with a complete visual package for their product launch. The sealed hero shot serves as the primary listing image across Amazon, Shopee, and their own DTC website, while the open-jar composition anchors product detail pages and social media content. The consistent soft lighting and clean aesthetic established a photography template the brand has since applied to their expanding skincare line, maintaining visual coherence across all SKUs.
