Three frames for a red-and-gold skincare line built on contrast: high-gloss red reservoirs against satin champagne housings, clear acrylic caps over polished pumps, and a squat cream jar whose clear lid shows the gold inner chamber in all three finishes. More work from this category lives in our cosmetics photography portfolio.

Red and gold is the oldest luxury code in Chinese beauty, and the easiest to get wrong: too much shine and it turns gaudy, too little and it turns flat. These three frames were an exercise in finish separation, keeping the gloss red glossy, the satin gold satiny and the clear acrylic invisible, all in one straight-on documentation style.

Photography Challenges
1. Gloss red without studio reflections. The red bodies are mirror-gloss. Every light, card and edge in the studio appears in them, so the reflection environment had to be designed, not improvised.
2. Satin gold that stays champagne. Satin metallic finishes drift toward yellow or brown with small white-balance errors. The housings had to hold a true champagne tone against the saturated red.
3. Clear caps over detailed hardware. The acrylic caps sit over stepped pump mechanisms. Photographed carelessly, the cap ghosts double the hardware beneath; photographed right, it disappears.
Our Approach
A built reflection environment
The bottles were shot inside a tent of large white cards with controlled black strips, so the gloss red carries clean architectural highlights that describe the cylinder instead of a map of the room.
Locked white balance, verified on set
Color was set once from a grey reference and checked against the physical housings on a calibrated monitor, so the champagne gold stays champagne across all three frames.
Polarizing discipline for the caps
A polarizer rotated to the acrylic’s sweet spot kills the cap’s surface glare without touching the pump highlights behind it, leaving the hardware crisp through invisible plastic.
"Luxury color codes are unforgiving: the buyer has seen red and gold a thousand times. The only way to earn the code is finish discipline, one material at a time." — June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions
How do you photograph glossy red packaging without reflections?
Inside a card environment: large white surfaces for soft highlights, thin black strips to draw the edges, and nothing in the room that is not part of the design. The bottle shows its shape, not our studio.
Can you keep metallic gold accurate in photos?
Yes. Gold drifts fast with white-balance errors, so we lock color from a grey reference and verify against the physical pack on set. Champagne, rose and yellow gold are different targets and we treat them as such.
Do you shoot small three-SKU sets?
Yes. Small sets get the same locked setup as large ranges: one environment, one color target, matched frames. Three SKUs photographed consistently outperform thirty photographed loosely.
A red-and-gold line that needs discipline, not glare?
Send the set. We will build the reflection environment around your finishes and deliver frames where the luxury code reads exactly as designed.
