Draft Beer Tavern Product Photography

The client sells draft beer systems to bars and wanted frames that sell the tavern fantasy, not just the hardware. The set is a rough stone counter against a dark green wall, dressed with wooden barrels and a brass tap, with heavy glass mugs carrying fresh foam. All 3 frames were shot at the AIMI Visual Media studio in Guangzhou, China.

Photography Challenges

1. Foam dies faster than the light setup. Fresh foam collapses in minutes under warm studio light. The light map is locked and metered before the pour, and the beer is poured last, straight into the final position.

2. Glass mugs pick up every reflection. Heavy glass on a stone counter reflects the whole room. Large black flags cut the room out of the glass, leaving only the two intended highlights along the mug walls.

3. The set must read tavern, not warehouse. A stone counter and barrels can slide into rustic clutter. The composition keeps one hero per frame: mug group, single mug, or barrel and tap, with the rest falling soft.

Our Approach

Light before liquid.

The stone counter and green wall are lit and metered first, so the beer is only poured when the frame is ready to take.

Three reads of one set.

Frame 01 groups the mugs with the tower for the range read, frame 02 isolates one mug for the product read, and frame 03 puts the barrel and tap forward for the atmosphere read.

Post-production and delivery.

Retouching cleaned foam overshoot on the stone, held the glass highlights, and delivered 2000x2000px sRGB JPG plus WebP.
