Photography Challenges

1. Three dishes must match the existing menu. The frames had to drop into the existing dark world without a visual break. The light map and table surface are matched to the previous session.

2. Steam must read clean. The steam is backlit against the dark backdrop so the wisps read without hiding the food.

3. Glossy sauce needs separation. The braised pork belly carries a dark glossy sauce. A rear rim light separates the dish edge from the dark wood.

Our Approach

Match the existing world.

The light map, table and porcelain are matched to the previous menu session so the new frames read as the same restaurant.

Three dishes, three reads.

Frame 01 is the braised pork belly hero, frame 02 is the steamed fish, and frame 04 is the dumplings in the steamer.

Post-production and delivery.

Retouching cleaned steam overshoot, held the sauce gloss, and delivered 2000x2000px sRGB JPG plus WebP.

"Menu additions are a matching exercise: same light, same table, same grade, and the new dishes land in the old world." — June, Product Photography Team Lead
