The product is a pair of Cantonese cold dishes sold as deli appetizers: sliced lap cheong arranged in a petal fan, and a peanut celery salad with carrot slivers. The brief was clean menu readability, so both dishes shoot on white plates against a high-key white ground with no props. Both frames were shot at the AIMI Visual Media studio in Guangzhou, China.

Photography Challenges
1. White plates on white ground need edges. A white plate on a white sweep disappears. The sweep is lit a half stop hotter than the plate and the plate shadow is kept soft but present, so the dish reads as an object on a surface.
2. Sausage slices curl as they dry. Cut lap cheong curls at the edges within minutes. The petal fan is composed immediately after slicing, and each slice is pressed flat with a light touch of oil.
3. A two-dish set still needs a system. Even two frames share one plate style, one light map and one grade, so they land on the menu page as a pair, not as strangers.
Our Approach
The petal fan.
Frame 01 fans the sausage slices into overlapping petals on the white plate, shot at a low three-quarter angle so the gloss on the cut faces reads.
The salad read.
Frame 02 mounds the peanut celery salad with carrot slivers on top for color contrast, same plate, same light.
Post-production and delivery.
Retouching held the sausage gloss, cleaned plate rims, and delivered 2000x2000px sRGB JPG plus WebP.
