The women's footwear line behind the LR BEFAY insole branding sent a full season's catalog: zebra-toe patent flats in nude and black, cherry-charm pumps, lip-embossed suede, crystal-covered bridal stilettos, striped ankle-strap d'Orsay heels, snakeskin slingbacks, platform sneakers, and a matching bag-and-shoe set. The brief asked for still life that feels like a boutique shelf: geometric white plinths, dried flowers, empty frames, and one light story across every design. All 17 images were shot in our Guangzhou studio across three set builds, delivered in 7 business days with a full commercial license.

Photography Challenges
1. Fourteen materials, and none of them agree. Mirror patent, matte suede, pony hair, rhinestone pavé, snakeskin emboss, and perforated knit all sit in one catalog, and each demands its own light behavior: patent needs controlled highlights, suede needs raking light, stones need a small hard source. We built one base plot per set build, then re-flagged and re-metered per material, never moving the set dressing, so the shelf stays one world while every shoe gets its own physics.
2. Full-pavé rhinestone uppers flare at every facet. The bridal stilettos are covered edge-to-edge in crystals, and each stone is a tiny mirror. A broad softbox turns the upper into a white glare sheet with no shoe shape left. We used a small, flagged key so each stone keeps one sharp point of light, spot-metered for the stones first, and lifted the chrome heel and insole back in post, so the sparkle reads as luxury instead of overexposure.
3. Zebra and stripe patterns moiré under the sensor. Regular high-contrast patterns fight the camera's pixel grid and produce wavy false bands at certain apertures and angles. We checked every framing at 100% on tether, nudged the camera a few degrees when a pattern shimmered, and stayed off the apertures where the moiré appeared, so the zebra hair and the toe stripes render clean at full zoom.
4. A fourteen-design catalog must read as one brand. Different shoes, different sets, different props can fracture into fourteen unrelated pictures. We locked a shared visual grammar: white and grey geometric plinths, one dried-flower bundle, one empty frame, one tone family per build, so a buyer paging through the catalog feels one boutique shelf restocked, not fourteen studios.
Our Approach
The Geometric Shelf Sets
Three set builds carried the catalog: a warm tan-wall corner with a leaning white frame and dried goldenrod, a black-backdrop table for the two-tone zebra pumps, and a cyan sweep with white stepped plinths for the summer heels. The key was a large softbox camera-left, flagged tight so light lands on the shoe without washing the set, with fill bounced to keep shadows soft but present. We shot mostly at 70-85mm from high three-quarter angles, at f/8 for full sharpness, and arranged each pair to show two views at once: one shoe upright for the opening and insole, one laid or tilted for the profile and heel.
Two-View Pair Arrangements
Every frame in this catalog answers two questions in one image: what does the shoe look like from the top, and what does it look like from the side. The working arrangement is one shoe standing or leaning to open the vamp, insole branding, and toe detail, while its mate lies on its side or balances on its toe to give the silhouette, heel shape, and sole edge. The cherry flats and the LOVE-embroidered pair add a third job: the two shoes have to touch so the paired design reads as one sentence. Taped plinth marks kept every arrangement repeatable across the three builds.
Seventeen Frames, One Shelf Grade
Post-production unified three set builds under one grade: white balance 5200K, whites to clean neutral across all three backdrops, and a shared shadow floor so the tan, black, and cyan sets feel like rooms in one boutique. The rhinestone bridal pair got -20 highlight recovery masked to the stones only. The zebra hair got +10 texture to keep the print crisp at listing size, and the emerald and cherry colorways were matched to physical samples under a D65 lamp within ±3 saturation. Files exported at 2000x2000px sRGB, JPEG quality 90 plus WebP.
"A brand catalog is a shelf, not a shootout: same plinths, same light logic, same grade, and fourteen different shoes start speaking with one voice." — June, Product Photography Team Lead
Frequently Asked Questions
How is a brand footwear catalog like this priced?
These 17 images are styled still life with set builds, sitting in the Growth tier starting at $35 per image, about $595 for the set. If you also need plain white-background mains for each design, those start at $12 per image under the Essential package. All rates are starting prices; the final quote depends on your shot list.
What turnaround should I expect for a multi-design catalog?
This 17-image, 14-design catalog was delivered in 7 business days from sample arrival. Three set builds carried the whole line: we swap shoes through taped plinth marks instead of redesigning sets, so most of the schedule went to per-material metering.
Will these work for Amazon and brand DTC listings?
The files are 2000x2000px sRGB with no borders, watermarks, or added text, so they upload directly to secondary slots and A+ Content on Amazon, and they are styled enough for DTC hero sections. The Amazon main slot still needs a pure white-background image per design, which we can add at $12 per image.
How do you keep a 14-design catalog looking like one brand?
We lock a shared visual grammar before the first frame: white and grey geometric plinths, one prop family, one light logic, one grade. The 14 designs here span flats, heels, bridal, and sneakers, and they read as one shelf restocked, not fourteen separate shoots.
How do you photograph rhinestone-covered heels without the stones flaring?
Full pavé needs a small, flagged key so each stone keeps one sharp point of light instead of a broad glare sheet. We spot-meter for the stones first and lift the chrome heel and insole back in post, with -20 highlight recovery masked to the crystals only. The bridal pair in this set kept both sparkle and silhouette.
Can you shoot matching bag-and-shoe sets together?
Yes, the red satchel and rhinestone pump frame in this catalog is exactly that: two coordinated products on staggered plinths, lit as one composition with the bag raised as the larger mass and the shoes as the detail anchor. Sets like this are quoted by frame count, same as single-product frames.
Do you offer both still-life and on-model versions of the same line?
Yes. This catalog ran pure still life because the brand wanted boutique-shelf imagery for the season. On-model versions of the same designs can be booked as a separate session in the same week, and we match the grade so the two sets sit together in one listing family.
