The client sells an adjustable recessed LED downlight with a gimbal head, anti-glare reflector and finned aluminum heat sink, aimed at specifiers who read engineering details. The brief asked for a black-studio series that walks the fixture from front view to thermal and optical close-ups. All seven frames were photographed at the AIMI Visual Media studio in Guangzhou, China.

Photography Challenges

1. White trim and black heat sink want different exposures. The satin white bezel clips while the black fins go muddy at the same setting. Exposure is balanced for the trim with a soft edge light on the heat sink fins, so both ends of the fixture keep detail on the black ground.

2. Adjustability must be shown, not claimed. A gimbal head in its neutral position proves nothing. Frame 02 tilts the lamp in its housing, so the range of movement reads mechanically in a single image.

3. The optics are the product. Reflector texture and the COB chip decide the light quality buyers are paying for. Frames 03-04 move close on the concentric reflector and the warm chip behind it, shot at angles where the anti-glare geometry is legible.

Our Approach

Front and movement first.

Frames 01-02 establish the fixture: straight front with spring clips deployed, then the gimbal tilt that demonstrates the adjustability claim.

Optics and source close-ups.

Frames 03-04 and 06 work the light path: reflector texture, the COB chip face-on, and the deep dark aperture that shows the anti-glare cut-off.

Engineering and the creative closer.

Frame 05 profiles the finned heat sink with its vented cap, and frame 07 finishes with a dramatic tilted composition for the campaign slot.

"A downlight sells on what you cannot see in a ceiling: the reflector, the chip and the heat sink. Put those three under honest light and the spec sheet writes itself." — June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions

How is a seven-frame fixture library priced?

Studio frames like these sit in our Growth package from $35 per image, white-background versions start from $12 per image under Essential, and full A+ Content sets start from $80 per SKU under Premium. All rates are starting prices, and the final quote depends on your requirements.

Can you show the gimbal adjustment in the images?

Yes. The fixture is photographed both neutral and tilted in its housing, so the adjustment range reads mechanically without needing a video.

Can you photograph the LED chip and reflector up close?

Yes. Optical close-ups cover the concentric reflector texture and the COB source, lit so the anti-glare geometry and chip placement stay legible at zoom.

Can we add white-background versions for marketplace slots?

Yes. Pure white-background shots for Amazon main image slots start from $12 per image under our Essential package. All final files are delivered at 2000x2000px sRGB, which exceeds Amazon's 1000px minimum requirement for the zoom feature, and include a full commercial license.
