Photography Challenges

1. Blue jadeite goes grey under flat light. The stone's blue tone dies under frontal soft light. A combination of side key and gentle backlight restores the depth of color while keeping the carved scales detailed.

2. Carving lines fill with shadow. Deep relief on the koi and lotus reads as dirt if shadows pool. Fill is added from the camera axis at very low power, just enough to lift the recesses without flattening the relief.

3. A single pendant needs staging tension. One small carving on a big set looks lost. River pebbles are arranged as a leading path toward the pendant, giving the frame scale and direction without props competing.

Our Approach

Hero front view.

Frame 01 sets the pendant upright on the glossy black surface, koi to camera, pebbles leading in from the edge of frame.

Angle and translucency proofs.

Middle frames rotate the piece and add the backlight pass, showing the stone's inner glow at the edges.

Macro detail coverage.

Closing frames isolate the carving work on the koi scales and lotus veins with the 100mm macro.

"Jade carving photography is two jobs at once: prove the craftsman with the surface, prove the stone with the light behind it." — June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions

How is a single-pendant set priced?

Styled creative frames start at $35 per image under our Growth package, with set building and retouching included. All rates are starting prices, and the final quote depends on your requirements.

How long does the session take?

This set was delivered inside our standard 5-7 business day window: translucency light tests first, then the shoot, then retouching.

Can you prove jade translucency in photos?

Yes. Backlit frames show the stone's inner quality, and files ship at 2000x2000px sRGB so the glow survives listing zooms.

Can you shoot our full carving series this way?

Yes. The glossy black recipe with pebble staging carries across carving motifs, so the series keeps one presentation standard.
