A consultant's portrait has one job: say what three paragraphs of bio cannot. This personal-brand series was built in a single sitting under one locked light, starting from the straight portrait every profile needs, then adding three symbolic frames, global reach, knowledge, and craft, with white line art composited onto hand poses that were choreographed before the camera came out. The series was delivered under a full commercial license for the client's website, speaking pages and press kit.

Photography Challenges
1. Hands are posed for graphics that do not exist yet. A composited symbol only convinces when the hand under it is right. Each pose is sketched in pre-production, palm height and finger curl are rehearsed against the sketch, and the frame is shot to the drawing, not the other way around.
2. One light has to carry four moods. The series holds together because nothing about the setup moves: same Rembrandt key, same black void, same exposure. The mood shifts come from gaze and pose, which is what makes four frames read as one thought.
3. Line art must sit in the photo, not on it. A white graphic pasted over a photograph shouts. Stroke weight and brightness are tuned to the frame's contrast, perspective is matched to the hand angle, and each symbol is placed where the eye lands naturally.
4. A dark suit on a black void merges. Navy on black is one silhouette without help. A hair light and a soft edge strip rebuild the shoulders and jaw, so the suit keeps its texture and the figure keeps its presence.
Our Approach
The base portrait.
Frame 1 is the anchor: direct eye contact, arms relaxed, nothing composited. Every profile page, conference bio and press kit starts from this frame.
The symbol series.
Frame 2 raises an open palm under a wireframe globe for global reach. Frame 3 lowers the gaze to an open book for knowledge and counsel. Frame 4 curls the fingers around a calligraphy brush for craft and precision.
Shooting for post.
Exposure and focus are locked for the whole sitting, hand positions are choreographed to the pre-production sketches, and the line art is composited afterwards with matched perspective and weight.
Post and delivery.
Skin retouching stays conservative, the four frames are graded as one series, and finals were delivered as 2000px sRGB JPG plus WebP.
"A conceptual portrait sells the sentence before the resume: one symbol in the hand is worth three adjectives in the bio." — Garbo, Director of Photography

Frequently Asked Questions
How is a conceptual portrait series priced?
Portrait sessions start from $800/day per photography team, with compositing scope quoted per series. Send the symbols you have in mind and we return a written per-project quote.
Can the symbols be customized to my profession?
Yes. Symbols are designed with you in pre-production, from tools of your trade to abstract ideas, then the hand poses are choreographed to match before the sitting begins.
How long does a sitting like this take?
A four-concept series with one locked setup runs about one to two hours, including pose rehearsal against the pre-production sketches. The light never moves, so no time is lost relighting.
Do I also get a normal portrait from the session?
Always. The straight base portrait is the first frame of every conceptual series, so your website bio and the creative frames stay consistent.
What is the turnaround and license?
The finished series, composites included, is delivered in 5-7 business days under a full commercial license covering your website, speaking pages, social profiles and press kits.
