AIMI Visual Media produced a 56-second brand promo for Gaojue fragranced moisturizing hand cream, filmed in 1920×1080 against a light-gray minimal studio background. Shot on a Canon 5D Mark IV with a macro lens, the film translates skin feel and scent into pictures. Delivery ran 5-7 business days.

Gaojue asked for a product promo with real brand feel. Hand cream is a category where functions barely differ; consumers choose on skin feel and the imagination a scent carries, and neither is visible. Our answer was restraint: a three-second title card, one black line on light gray naming the product, before any tube appears. From there the film moves through product close-ups, cream texture, use scenes, and scent-association cutaways, with thin, small captions that mark each selling point without competing with the picture.

Creative Concept
The 56 seconds run on a classic four-beat rhythm: the title card sets the tone, ten seconds of tube close-ups follow, twenty seconds of texture form the core, then scenes and scent close the film. The title card is a deliberate filter; it does not grab everyone, but the viewers who stay are exactly the brand’s people. Squeezed-ribbon shape, the spread from thick to translucent, the matte finish after absorption: these macro states stand in for a trial the viewer cannot have through a screen.
Production
Texture was the most labor-intensive part of the shoot. The squeeze pass ran at slow, even speed under the macro lens so the ribbon’s arc and gloss stayed intact; the spread pass followed a fingertip drawing the cream from thick to a translucent film, the most direct evidence of moisture; the absorption pass used side light on skin to read the matte, non-sticky finish. Cream state depends on temperature, so the studio held a constant 25 degrees and we re-dressed the sample surface before every take, keeping each ribbon as fresh as the first.
The light-gray high-key background keeps the white cream clean and honest; impurities and air bubbles have nowhere to hide in this tonal range, which is exactly why the sample work matters. Lighting ran large soft sources at high brightness, locked to 5500K. Scent cannot be filmed, so we translated it with association: ingredient and mood cutaways timed to the edit, with captions naming the fragrance notes. The final structure is title card, product close-up, texture, scene and scent outro, with no two consecutive shots sharing a framing.
Production Challenges
1. Scent cannot be filmed directly. We translated fragrance into scene association: ingredient and atmosphere cutaways timed to the edit rhythm let viewers tie the aroma to a mood, while captions name the scent notes. That gives an invisible selling point a concrete place to land on screen.
2. Squeezed cream cannot be reused. Every texture take needs fresh product, so ten takes means ten samples. We had the client stock enough units for the planned take count before the shoot and cleaned all props between passes, keeping each ribbon’s surface as fresh as the first.
3. Minimal pictures can turn dull. With few elements on screen, rhythm has to carry the film. We alternated close-up, macro, and cutaway framings through the edit so no two consecutive shots share a size, keeping 56 seconds of restrained imagery moving without breaking the brand’s quiet tone.

Where the Film Lives
The 56-second film fits the brand section of the official site, detail-page video slots, and gift-season placements; the title-card opening scores especially well on owned brand channels. The texture cut works for seeding content on Xiaohongshu (RED) and Douyin, where hand-care audiences are precise. Cross-border versions should swap captions for multilingual sets, with ingredient and efficacy claims adjusted to each target market’s rules. Stills serve as detail-page mood images and gift-box posters, so one shoot covers many placements.
A hand cream film is a stand-in trial: squeeze, spread, absorb, shot honestly at 25 degrees with fresh product every take. Get those three states right and the viewer has already tried the cream. June. — June, Product Photography Team Lead
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a skincare promo video cost?
Product videos at AIMI start from $200 per finished video. A brand promo like this one, with a full film, a caption-free version, and segment clips, is quoted by brief based on style complexity and duration. Send product details and a reference style for a same-day itemized quote.
How long does a hand cream video take to produce?
This project delivered in 5-7 business days across script, shoot, and post. Texture work sets the pace: fresh cream per take, constant studio temperature, and sample re-dressing between passes all go into the schedule at scripting stage.
How detailed can the cream texture look on film?
Under the macro lens, the ribbon’s gloss and arc, the spread from thick to translucent, and the absorbed matte finish all read clearly. With fresh product per take and a 25-degree studio, the texture on film matches what consumers see in use.
How do you film a selling point like fragrance?
Scent is translated, not filmed. We pair ingredient and atmosphere cutaways with the edit’s rhythm so viewers link the aroma to a visual mood, and captions name the fragrance notes. An abstract claim becomes a concrete, repeatable on-screen beat.
Why open with a title card instead of the product?
The three-second card sets the brand’s minimal tone before any tube appears. It also filters: viewers who stay past a quiet opening are the audience the brand wants. From there, close-ups, texture, and scenes unfold in order.
What does the delivery include?
The full 56-second film, a caption-free clean version for repackaging, and each segment as an independent clip. Macro texture frames pull directly as detail-page texture images, and stills serve as mood pictures and gift-box posters across the season.
Can product photos be added in the same session?
Yes. White-background and scene stills can be added during the same booking, and the high-key gray setup converts quickly, so one shoot day covers both the film and the listing’s core image assets with a consistent look.
Where does this film perform best?
Owned brand channels first: the website brand section and detail-page video slots. Texture cuts seed well on Xiaohongshu (RED) and Douyin. For cross-border placements we build multilingual caption sets and adjust claims to each market’s rules.
