AIMI Visual Media produced a 40-second promotional video for an LED linear light whose core selling point is dual-channel emission: light thrown 45 degrees outward and 45 degrees inward from one housing. Shot on a Canon 5D Mark IV with a macro lens in a real interior, the 1920x1080 master was delivered in 5-7 business days.

The brief centered on one structural claim most buyers cannot picture from a spec sheet: a single light slot with two output paths, 45 degrees outward and 45 degrees inward. We shot from a low upward angle, letting the black aluminum profile cut diagonally across the frame while warm white light spilled from both sides of the slot and drew a clean reflection on the floor. A lit lamp is its own best argument; our job was recording that argument accurately.

Creative Concept
Lighting products carry an advantage no other category has: the product is the light source, so switching it on is the demonstration. The risk is that a structural claim like dual-channel emission stays abstract. We broke it into three camera positions, each answering one side of the claim, and let a single caption state the angles at the exact moment the viewer sees them. Engineers and designers, the real audience for this film, should grasp the construction in one pass.
Production
We exposed for the emitting surface so the slot never clipped to a white plate, preserving brightness steps and color temperature in the light itself, then filled the room only enough to keep structure readable in the shadows. A narrow rim light from behind separated the black aluminum body from the dark background and gave the metal its cold edge. The floor reflection was kept untouched because it is living proof of output. The macro lens handled the profile cross-section, where the dual-channel construction is physically visible.
Production Challenges
1. A lamp’s rated color temperature is a hard spec, and the camera can lie about it. Warm white drifts yellow or pale very easily. We calibrated with a gray card against the actual emission, then fine-tuned in grading against the rated value, so the light color on screen is the light color the product ships with.
2. Large dark areas invite noise. We shot at low ISO with fill light holding the shadows, and restricted noise reduction in post to the background only. The emitting surface and housing detail stay untouched, so the dark mood survives without the smeared texture aggressive cleanup leaves behind.
3. A real ceiling is full of pipes and seams. Wide lenses pull every fixture into the frame, so we adjusted position and composition repeatedly, keeping only product and light. Depth of field and angle hid the rest, and the install still reads as a genuine site rather than a set.

Where the Film Lives
The 40-second landscape master runs on the brand website, e-commerce detail pages and project recruitment settings, where the dual-output demonstration speaks directly to designers and engineering buyers. Close-up segments fit industry social channels such as Douyin and WeChat Channels. For cross-border listings, lighting parameters follow each market’s labeling rules, so we recommend multilingual subtitle versions. Graded stills from the film drop straight into product catalogs and engineering proposals; the black and gold palette prints well.
June: A lamp sells itself the moment it is switched on. Our craft is restraint: expose for the light, protect the color temperature, keep the reflection, and let the product finish the sentence. — June, Product Photography Team Lead
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a linear light or lighting video cost?
Product videos at AIMI start from $200 per finished video. A project with multiple deliverables like this one, a master, a clean version and segment cuts, is quoted against your brief. Send the product details and our team returns an itemized quote the same day.
How long does a lighting video take?
This project was delivered in 5-7 business days, covering script, the shoot and post-production. Installation conditions and location access can shift scheduling, and we confirm exact dates with you before the booking is locked.
How do you make dual-channel output understandable?
Three positions tell one story: a low shot showing both channels lit together, a side shot separating the outward 45-degree wash on the wall from the inward 45-degree light on the ceiling, and a macro of the profile cross-section. One caption ties it together.
Will the light color on screen match the real lamp?
Yes. We calibrate with a gray card against the lamp’s actual emission and grade against its rated color temperature. For lighting products, a wrong light color is a wrong product, so this calibration step is never skipped.
How do you keep dark scenes clean?
We shoot at low ISO with fill supporting the shadows, and apply noise reduction only to the background in post. The emitting surface and housing detail keep their texture, so the frame stays moody without turning soft or smeared.
Can you shoot at our project site or showroom?
Yes. Beyond our Guangzhou studio, we shoot in real showrooms, sample rooms and project sites. For lighting, an actual installed environment often argues better than any set, and we plan positions around the site’s existing conditions.
What do we need to prepare before the shoot?
Working samples with final optics, the rated specifications, your selling-point list and brand guidelines. Fixtures should be installed and circuits tested before we arrive, so the shoot day goes to composition and exposure rather than troubleshooting.
What does delivery include?
The full 40-second master, a clean version without captions and each segment as a standalone clip, covering detail pages, social channels and proposals. Graded stills from the film can also serve as catalog and engineering document images.
