AIMI Visual Media produced a 39-second landscape promotional video for a whole-house custom furniture brand, presenting dark custom cabinetry with recessed under-cabinet LED strips. Shot at 1080p 25fps on a Sony A7S3 with an FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM on a gimbal, the master was delivered in 7 business days with a ProRes 422 file.

The brand sells high-ticket custom cabinetry, and its buyers decide on perceived quality before they ever ask about price. The brief asked for a detail-page and showroom loop video for a dark-toned display: deep brown matte cabinets, pale marble counters and a 3000K LED strip recessed under each cabinet. We proposed a dark, atmospheric direction where the strip becomes the only real key light, with no people on camera and nothing competing with cabinetry, light and material.

Creative Concept

High-ticket custom furniture runs on quality trust, so we built the film on contrast. Ambient light was pulled down until the under-cabinet strips became the only key source, and the warm halos falling on marble gave the frame its reflection and its mood at once. The caption promise, freely customizable and fit for many settings, rides on that atmosphere: the space looks like it costs money, which is exactly the message a custom brand needs its first screen to send.

Production

We recorded 1080p at 25fps on a Sony A7S3 with the FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM, leaning on the dual native ISO to keep the dark frame clean, with ISO held under 3200. The 3000K cabinet strips served as key light, while an Aputure 300D II with a softbox added a faint fill from behind and to the side so shadows kept detail without going black. Camera movement stayed low and slow on a RS3 gimbal. Post ran through Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve and After Effects.

Production Challenges

1. Dark-tone shooting risks noise and a smeared, plastic look. We switched to the second native ISO gain stage, opened the aperture to F2.8 for maximum light, and kept DaVinci Resolve noise reduction restrained so wood grain and matte surfaces kept their texture. The frame stays dark on purpose, never dirty.

2. Strip highlights clip while cabinet shadows sink. We metered off the strips and pulled exposure down one stop, then graded in zones: highlights recovered on the strips, shadows lifted on the cabinets, the marble reflection left with its halo layers intact. Nothing clips and nothing dies in the final frame.

3. Polished marble mirrors every light and stand on set. A polarizer on the lens cut stray reflections as we rotated it, and we re-angled the fixtures so their throw missed the counter’s reflection zone. Remaining equipment ghosts were cleaned in post, leaving only the strip halos the scene needs.

Where the Film Lives

The landscape master runs on the brand’s e-commerce flagship detail page, the custom channel of its website, showroom screens and exhibition booth displays. A 30-second vertical cut (1080x1920) serves Douyin feed ads, WeChat Channels promotion and the brand’s Xiaohongshu (RED) account. Selected frames, strip-atmosphere shots and full cabinet wides, were pulled as detail-page scene images and posters for designer channels, so one shoot day covers listings, offline screens and social.

June: Dark-tone filming is a ratio problem: ambient light too high and the frame goes dirty, strip light too low and the mood dies. Meter off the strip, never sacrifice its highlights, and lift the shadows later. — June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a whole-house custom video cost?

Product videos at AIMI start from $200 per finished video. A promo like this one, covering script, a showroom shoot day, grading and multiple delivery formats, is quoted against your brief. Send the project details and our team returns an itemized quote the same day.

How long does a custom furniture video take?

This project took 7 business days in total: 2 for script communication and confirmation, 1 for the showroom shoot and 4 for editing and grading. If you need a rush schedule, contact our team to confirm timing and cost.

Will a dark style make the products hard to see?

No. Dark tone is an atmosphere choice, not a clarity sacrifice: we meter off the strips to protect highlights and lift the cabinet shadows in grading, so the product stays readable throughout. A bright direction is equally possible at the same quote.

What should we prepare before the shoot?

Provide the showroom or sample space, a selling-point list, brand guidelines and the design catalog. Strips and circuits should be tested in advance and cabinet surfaces cleaned of fingerprints. If soft furnishings are part of the look, have them placed before we arrive.

Can you shoot in our showroom or factory?

Yes. Beyond our Guangzhou studio, we regularly shoot in client showrooms, sample rooms and factories. Real custom installations argue better than sets, and we plan positions and power around your site conditions before the shoot day.

How do you keep dark footage free of noise?

The A7S3’s dual native ISO keeps high-gain frames clean, we hold ISO under 3200 and open the aperture for light, then apply restrained noise reduction in DaVinci Resolve so material texture survives. Dark on purpose never means dirty.

What formats do you deliver?

A 39-second landscape master in MP4 (H.264/H.265) plus a ProRes 422 MOV master file, with an optional 30-second vertical cut for Douyin, WeChat Channels and Xiaohongshu (RED). Stills for detail pages and posters can be pulled from the grade.

Why no people in the video?

High-ticket custom buyers judge material and light first. With no one on camera, cabinetry, strips and surfaces carry the whole frame, attention stays on the product, and the footage ages better for showroom loops and detail pages.
