A baijiu brand asked for a guochao-style brand film built around its red-glazed ceramic bottle with gold tracing. The direction we chose was austere: a pure black studio backdrop, one directional beam, and slow camera moves, so the gold scroll pattern and the glaze’s sheen carry an eastern-aesthetic, premium gifting message. The finished film serves the brand website, holiday gifting campaigns, and franchise recruitment material.

Creative Concept
High-end baijiu communication is fundamentally about cultural identity, so the strategy was object aesthetics plus low-key luxury. A pure black background absorbs every distracting piece of information; a single directional light strikes the red glaze, and the Chinese-red surface with gold tracing forms the classic red-gold-black triad, the bottle contemplated like an artwork. Slow orbits alternate with slow push-ins at a restrained pace, handing the viewer’s attention to the craft details themselves. Restraint is the argument: fewer elements, more value.
Production
We built a black-background still-life table covered edge to edge in black light-absorbing velvet, and shot on a Sony A7M4 with the FE 90mm F2.8 Macro G OSS at 1080p 25fps. The lighting was a single-source directional design: an Aputure 300D II with standard reflector from about 45 degrees upper right, flags cutting the beam so it lands only on the bottle and draws a striped highlight along the glaze, while a black flag on the left deepens shadow for the low-key register, CRI 97 or higher. A motorized slider carried the slow orbital moves, and the macro end pushed in on the gold-traced pattern.
Production Challenges
1. Red glaze clipping and banding under strong light. We exposed a third of a stop down to hold red detail and set the Picture Profile to lower saturation and contrast, then controlled the red channel gain separately in DaVinci Resolve. The glaze comes back to a true, rich red without channel clipping or tonal breaks.
2. Balancing gold tracing against red glaze exposure. The gold pattern blows to dead white easily, so we metered off the gold as the reference, protected its detail in camera, and lifted the shadows later in the grade. Stopping the macro down to F4 to F5.6 kept the pattern’s depth of field and sharpness intact.
3. Dust and stray reflections betraying the black backdrop. Before rolling, the bottle was dusted with gloved hands and a blower, and the black velvet was checked for creases that catch light. Flags confined the beam strictly to the bottle so no spill reached the background, and remaining specks were cleaned in post.

Where the Film Lives
The 32-second landscape master runs as the brand website homepage film, on television screens at premium supermarket stack displays and tobacco-and-liquor specialty stores, and on LED screens at wine and spirits fair recruitment booths. The 15-second vertical cut serves the Douyin brand account and WeChat Channels holiday campaigns. Red-and-gold object frames were also pulled as holiday gifting posters, recruitment brochure covers, and key visuals for offline material.
Guochao product film is a less-is-more discipline: black plus one beam often reads classier than lanterns, screens, and calligraphy piled together. The whole craft is in the red-gold balance. Red that clips turns vulgar, gold that blows turns fake; control both and the bottle earns its price. — June, Product Photography Team Lead
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a brand film like this take?
Here, script communication and creative confirmation took 3 business days, the studio shoot took 1 day, and edit plus color took 4 business days, totaling 8 business days to delivery. If you are working toward a fixed launch date, tell us early and we will confirm schedule and rush cost.
How much does a baijiu brand film cost?
Product videos at AIMI start from $200 per finished video. A multi-deliverable scope like this project, with the master film plus vertical cuts and pulled still frames, is quoted by brief. Share your product, platform plan, and version count and we will send a written quote.
Is a pure black background too monotonous?
Black exists to make the object the single focal point, which suits a premium gifting position. If you want more layering we can add silk cloth, haze, or light-and-shadow textures, or build a two-scene structure of dark and bright setups. Several creative directions are presented for selection at the concept stage.
What matters when filming glazed ceramic?
Three things: dust control, since glaze shows every fingerprint, so we handle pieces gloved with a blower on hand; reflection shape, since lamp position decides whether the highlight reads as elegant; and color fidelity, since red glaze clips easily and needs joint control in capture and grade.
Can a brand story be worked into the film?
Yes. A brand film can carry brand history, brewing heritage, or gifting culture as on-screen captions or a short voiceover layer. We plan that structure at the creative stage so the story beats land inside the runtime without crowding the object photography that sells the bottle.
How do you keep red glaze from clipping?
We expose a third of a stop under to retain red detail, lower saturation and contrast in the camera’s Picture Profile, then manage the red channel gain separately in DaVinci Resolve. That pipeline returns a true glazed red with smooth tonal transitions and no channel breaks.
Why use a motorized slider here?
The film’s rhythm depends on slow, perfectly even orbital moves and push-ins that handheld or gimbal work cannot repeat identically across takes. The slider gives the same speed every pass, which matters when we intercut pattern close-ups with wider bottle studies at a restrained pace.
What should we prepare before the shoot?
Send bottles in the best cosmetic condition, since glaze shows scratches under directional light, plus label artwork and brand VI references if captions appear. We handle dusting, reflection control, and color management in house, so no special preparation beyond clean, unmarked product is required.
Where does the finished film run?
The landscape master runs on the brand website, premium supermarket display screens, specialty store screens, and fair booth LED walls. The 15-second vertical cut covers Douyin and WeChat Channels campaigns, and pulled stills feed posters, brochure covers, and offline key visuals.
