AIMI Visual Media produced a 50-second vertical product video for a Moutai town baijiu brand, built around the bottle-opening ritual as its visual climax. Filmed natively in 1080×1920 at 25fps on a vertically mounted Sony A7S3, the video was delivered in 7 business days.

A baijiu brand from the Moutai town area wanted a vertical product video for feed platforms, built around the bottle-opening moment: a server’s hands enter frame and twist off the gold embossed cap, with the bright yellow bottle carrying ritual and gifting value inside a banquet setting. We shot native vertical 1080×1920 rather than cropping a landscape master. The film runs on Douyin, WeChat Channels, Xiaohongshu (RED), and the e-commerce detail page vertical slot.

Creative Concept
On vertical platforms baijiu marketing works as instant discovery: the viewer must be convinced mid-scroll. Our strategy was opening ritual plus banquet immersion. No voiceover argues quality; the act of opening argues it. The cap’s damping resistance, the instant the seal breaks, the server’s vest and wristwatch, together they imply a bottle that belongs on a proper table. Native vertical composition fills the frame with the bottle instead of surrendering two thirds of it to a landscape crop.
Production
We shot in a real restaurant private room: round table, tableware, and warm wall lamps building the banquet mood. The camera was a Sony A7S3 mounted vertically with the FE 55mm F1.8 ZA, recording native 1080×1920 at 25fps, so vertical quality comes from capture rather than a post crop. An Aputure 300D II with softbox filled from 45 degrees front-side, keeping the yellow lacquer translucent, while a small LED spot lifted reflections on the gold cap, CRI 97 or higher across sources. The opening action was broken into three beats, grip, twist, unseal, with five to eight takes per beat and the cleanest selected.
Production Challenges
1. Hands drifting out of the narrow vertical frame. We fixed the camera directly in front of the bottle, tilted down about 15 degrees, and taped the hand’s movement path on the table. The performer followed the marks on every take, which keeps the grip, twist, and unseal beats inside the central third of the frame where feed viewers actually look.
2. Gold cap highlights clipping away the emboss. The key light got a second layer of diffusion to lower the lighting ratio, and exposure was biased a third of a stop down using the cap highlight as reference. In DaVinci Resolve a qualifier then pulled the highlight region down alone, recovering the embossed texture without flattening the rest of the frame.
3. Focus hunting between cap and bottle mouth. Autofocus tends to hunt at the opening instant, so we preset manual focus on the cap plane and refused to chase. At F2.8 the depth of field lets the bottle mouth fall naturally into focus as the cap leaves, avoiding the visible back-and-forth pumping that marks amateur footage.

Where the Film Lives
The 50-second native vertical master runs on the Douyin brand account and in-feed ads, WeChat Channels promotion, Xiaohongshu (RED) brand notes, and the e-commerce detail page vertical video slot. Key frames of the opening instant and bottle close-ups were pulled as detail page selling-point images and holiday gifting posters. A landscape version can be shot as a separate setup on request; cropping vertical to landscape is not recommended. Check each platform’s current policy on duration and aspect before launch.
Vertical baijiu video is ritual first: the opening tease, a hand on the cap in close-up, must land inside the first five seconds or the scroll wins. And shoot vertical natively. A cropped landscape frame leaves the bottle a third of the picture, and the ceremony loses its force. — June, Product Photography Team Lead
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a vertical product video take?
On this project, script and location confirmation took 2 business days, the restaurant shoot took half a day, and edit plus color took 4 business days, totaling 7 business days to delivery. Rush timing and cost can be confirmed with our team when you brief us.
How much does a vertical product video cost?
Product videos at AIMI start from $200 per finished video. A multi-deliverable scope like this project, with the master film plus vertical cuts and pulled still frames, is quoted by brief. Share your product, platform plan, and version count and we will send a written quote.
Does vertical cost more than landscape?
Same plan, same price. Vertical and landscape differ in composition and camera orientation; the lighting and shooting workload is equivalent. If you need both ratios, we recommend framing each in one session rather than cropping in post, billed as two videos with volume pricing available.
Who performs the opening and pouring actions?
We can cast a hand model or server character, or a member of your team can appear. Actions are broken down and rehearsed in advance, and key moves like opening, pouring, and the wine clinging to the glass are shot in multiple takes. Hands only, so no portrait licensing is involved.
How many bottles does a shoot consume?
The opening action actually unseals only 1 to 2 bottles for close-up work; the rest stay sealed as props. We suggest supplying 5 to 6 bottles: 2 for the shooting action and the remainder as unopened stand-ins for the banquet table setups.
Why shoot vertical natively instead of cropping?
A landscape frame cropped to 9:16 leaves the bottle occupying roughly a third of the picture and loses the ceremony’s presence. Mounting the camera vertically records true 1080×1920, so composition, lighting, and focus are all designed for the feed frame from the start.
How do you keep hands inside the narrow frame?
The camera locks directly in front of the bottle with a slight 15-degree downward tilt, and the hand’s path is taped on the table. The performer repeats the marks until each beat, grip, twist, unseal, lands inside the central third of the frame take after take.
How do you protect detail on the gold cap?
We soften the key with double diffusion to reduce the lighting ratio, expose a third of a stop down referenced to the cap highlight, and use a DaVinci Resolve qualifier to pull that highlight region back in the grade. The embossed pattern survives instead of blowing to white.
Which platforms does this video fit?
The vertical master fits Douyin brand accounts and in-feed ads, WeChat Channels, Xiaohongshu (RED) brand notes, and detail page vertical slots. Pulled key frames serve detail page selling points and gifting posters, so one half-day shoot covers feed, shelf, and print needs.
