Lane Doris briefed us on a series promo for its repair mask and matching skincare: mask boxes, essence ampoules, lotion bottles, cleanser tubes, near ten SKUs in light mint packaging. One film had to present the whole range clearly, for the flagship store brand section and investment materials. With no models on screen, the film carries the “clear, repairing” series tone through arrangement, light and shadow, and camera movement alone, staged on a white-to-light-grey gradient in our studio.

Creative Concept
The core of a set film is order. Nearly ten SKUs crammed into one frame becomes a grocery shelf, so we built visual hierarchy: packages grouped by height and size, the mask box as the series anchor at center-left, the ampoule trio forward for depth, tubes and tall bottles stepping the right side. Orientation, spacing, and overlap were fixed at the arrangement stage and never broken by camera moves. The language is slow lateral slides and gentle push-ins, a calm pace matching gentle repair; skincare’s fast cutting belongs in promo films, not in a range image film.
Production
Mint green is the series identity color and one of the hardest hues to shoot accurately; on white it either washes to grey or drifts yellow. We locked color temperature at 5500K, calibrated white balance on a grey card, and never touched it again. A large softbox overhead evens the top light, the white reflective tabletop lifts the products, and white foam boards on both flanks fill the bottle shadows. The ampoules’ pale yellow liquid got a small backlight transmitting through the glass, which brings out clarity instantly. The film runs three acts, range wide shot, single-SKU close-ups, texture display, so in 89 seconds every SKU gets seen.
Production Challenges
1. Crowding from a ten-SKU arrangement. We grouped instead of listing: hero products in one cluster, accessories in another, breathing room between clusters, and the camera gives each group its own close-up. No single frame tries to hold everything, so the eye lands where we intend and every SKU gets a clear read.
2. Glass and frosted bottles wanting opposite light. Clear ampoules need transmission; frosted bottles need softness. We lit by material zones, backlight for the ampoule area, softer wrap for the frosted area, tested each zone alone, then combined the full arrangement. Mixed materials on one tabletop stay balanced under one camera this way.
3. Mint green drifting on different screens. Light green shifts visibly across devices, so we locked the grade on a reference monitor, then checked playback on phone and tablet until the delivered color matched the client’s physical packaging. The series identity color had to arrive intact wherever the film plays.

Where the Film Lives
This range image film runs brand-side: the flagship store homepage brand slot, investment and agency materials, looped playback on counter screens, and brand-led placements on content channels. The full 89-second rhythm suits viewers with intent to watch; for in-feed ads we suggest cutting 15-second single-product versions, one master film splitting into many child assets. Skincare copy touching efficacy claims must follow the product filing documents, so check each platform’s latest policy before placement.
On a set film, pick the hero before you pick the lens. Give the anchor SKU the position and the seconds, let the rest orbit it, and viewers remember the star plus the fact there is a whole line. Average effort photographs nothing. — June, Product Photography Team Lead
Frequently Asked Questions
Can one film hold nearly ten SKUs?
Yes, and the key is grouping rather than listing. This film set the mask box as the hero at the main position, with ampoules, lotion, and cleanser grouped around it, and the camera gives each group its own close-up, so every SKU gets seen. Beyond fifteen SKUs we suggest splitting into multiple shorter series films.
Will white caps vanish on a white background?
No. White product on white relies on division of light labor: the background is cleaned to pure white in post, while side fill keeps a faint grey transition along the product edge, so outlines stay clear. The mint green caps here carry their own color, which separates even more easily.
How do you get ampoules to look clear?
Clear containers need backlight: a small transmission light behind the bottle lights the liquid and glass wall together, and the pale yellow texture turns transparent immediately. The front then gets a soft fill so the bottle does not collapse into a silhouette against the lit background.
How is skincare efficacy copy handled?
Captions and page copy describe product facts and make no efficacy promises. Where repair or soothing claims appear, every line is checked against the product filing documents and test reports, with no absolute claims. Platform rules differ in detail, so check each platform’s latest policy before placement.
How much does a skincare set video cost?
Product videos at AIMI start from $200 per finished video. A multi-deliverable scope like this project, with the 89-second master, a clean version, and ten pulled still frames, is quoted by brief. Share your SKU count and placement plan and we will send a written quote.
How long does a set film take?
This project ran 7 business days from shoot to delivery, including one revision round. Most of the shoot-day time goes into the arrangement stage, since orientation, spacing, and overlap across near ten packages must be fixed before any camera movement begins.
Why no models in a skincare film?
This is a range image film, and the products are the protagonists; arrangement, light, and camera movement carry the “clear, repairing” tone on their own. Model-led films suit single-hero emotional routes. For a brand-section film presenting a whole series, product-only keeps the hierarchy readable.
Can we get stills for the shop from the same shoot?
Yes. The delivery included 10 still frames pulled from the film, which the client used for shop decoration and detail page images. A carefully arranged set shoot doubles as a photo session, so one production budget covers both motion and still assets.
