AIMI Visual Media produced a 45-second vertical short video for a hair-styling tool brand’s gold-plated curling iron, pairing a black heating barrel with gold electroplated trim and a white-and-gold handle. Shot natively at 750×1000, 30fps in a white-and-pink gradient high-key set, the film was delivered in 3 business days with one revision round.

For a product like this, looks are the first selling point: buyers are won by the finish before they ever switch it on. The brief asked us to sell the pleasure of becoming beautiful with a beautiful object. We structured the film in two kinds of beauty: product close-ups that give the gold plating, the clamp action, and the grip their full due, and a human thread of closed-eye smiles and hair wrapping the barrel that makes the process feel like a treat. The subtitle simply names the product.

Creative Concept

Purchase decisions for this iron split between function and appearance. Our answer is a double-beauty structure: the product’s beauty gets generous close-ups, with the gold trim’s luster, the clamp’s open-and-close, and the handle in hand each saying this object is worth owning; the result’s beauty plays through the model, whose relaxed expression and the fresh curl’s arc make using it look enjoyable. The white-and-pink gradient background completes a light-luxury beauty color language with the white-and-gold handle, so the target viewer feels the film was made for her vanity table.

Production

We shot on a Canon EOS 5D Mark IV with a soft-light system. Gold electroplating is one of the hardest finishes to light: hard light bleaches it toward plastic, fully soft light dulls it toward brass. We used small-angle strip softboxes so the gold formed one continuous, gentle moving highlight, keeping mirror quality and warm tone together. The black barrel was lit independently so the two finishes stayed in their own registers. Diffusion fabric around the camera position kept the plating reflecting only even softbox panels. Background exposure sat half a stop above the product so the outline never merged into the high-key set.

Production Challenges

1. Wrapping, heating, and release each last only seconds, but compressing them would lie. We shot the process in segments with continuous recording, rehearsing the model’s actions until the rhythm held, then cut the best segments in true process order with no time compression. The waiting feeling is part of the product experience, and buyers can reproduce the same sequence at home.

2. Mirror-finish gold reflects the whole room back at the lens. We tented the camera position with diffusion fabric so the plated surfaces read only the even panels of the softboxes. The reflections stay clean, the highlight travels as one band, and no stray shapes from the set appear in the metal. Small-angle strip light keeps the gold warm instead of brassy.

3. A white-and-pink high-key set can swallow the product’s edges. We exposed the background half a stop brighter than the product, so the iron always kept a soft separation from the set. The pale gradient stays bright and clean while the white-and-gold handle and black barrel hold their contours through every close-up.

Where the Film Lives

This film fits four placements. On the e-commerce main-image slot, the gold finish stands out in the styling-tool category. In the detail page, the double-beauty structure carries the product section with looks and result together. On short-video and seeding channels, beauty and styling content is a natural home. It also suits brand-oriented social placement. Curling irons are a popular gift category, so build inventory before holiday peaks, adapt each version to vertical specifications per platform, and check current policies before spending.

For a looks-led product, pretty is not the finish line; desire is. Light the luster until it moves, keep the demo honest, and let the viewer picture the iron on her own dresser. Looks earn the click, truth earns the review. — June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you light gold plating so it does not look cheap?

The key is softness plus angle: small-angle strip softboxes form one continuous, gentle moving highlight on the gold, keeping mirror quality and warmth together. Hard light bleaches gold toward plastic; fully soft light dulls it toward brass. Diffusion fabric around the camera position keeps the plating reflecting only even panels.

Is the curling process real footage?

Yes. We recorded in segments and cut them in true process order with no time compression: wrapping, heating, release are all the model’s real operation. The waiting feeling is part of the product experience, and buyers can reproduce the same process at home, which is the foundation of good reviews.

Is 45 seconds too long for a vertical video?

The 45 seconds split into reveal, demonstration, and detail, at an unhurried pace that does not drag; looks-led products earn close-up time because viewers are naturally patient with beautiful objects. For feed placement we recommend a 15-second edit of the curling moment, and both versions can be delivered.

Is the white-and-pink gradient background real?

Yes, it is real lighting in the studio: a white background with pink wash from the side, bright and clean, forming a complete light-luxury color language with the white-and-gold product. This kind of color set is a mature solution in our beauty and personal-care work, customized to each product’s palette.

How much does a product video like this cost?

Product videos at AIMI start from $200 per finished video. A scope like this one, with a main cut, a subtitle-free version, and a model on set, is quoted by brief; send your product list and we will return an itemized quote.

Is the model fee included in the quote?

Model fees are quoted separately by type and session length, with casting confirmed from comp cards. This film leans on profile close-ups, so we screened for side profile and hair quality. Send the brief and we will itemize model, styling, and production in one quote.

Delivery is 3 business days. Can it be rushed?

Standard scheduling is 3 business days from shoot to delivery, including one revision round. Rush can be coordinated down to 48 hours; it rearranges crew and post-production resources, so confirm scheduling and cost with our team before booking.

Can the matching comb and dryer shoot in the same series?

Yes, and we recommend it. The same model and one color scheme finish the line in a single booking, keeping the series visually unified across store and placement. Batch shoots for a hair-tool series are priced as a package, clearly more economical than booking each film separately.

Can you deliver an English version for cross-border platforms?

Yes. Delivery includes a subtitle-free version, so English selling-point subtitles can be added directly. The gold finish reads as a looks-led selling point overseas as well, and the demonstration needs no language. Subtitles are set from your materials, and functional wording follows the target market’s regulations.

Can you hit gift-season deadlines before holidays?

Yes, curling irons are a popular gift category and we reserve capacity ahead of holiday peaks. Book about two weeks ahead to lock your slot; demand concentrates in the month before major holidays, and last-minute orders can only be coordinated as rush scheduling, with timing and cost confirmed by our team.
