The client is a skincare brand launching an eye care line: a white triple-roller serum applicator and matching chrome squeeze tubes. Everything was produced at the AIMI Visual Media studio in Guangzhou, China on a white high-key set, with one model and one locked lighting build for the full session.

Photography Challenges
1. White product, white set, fair skin: three near-identical tones. Meter off the face and the white applicator turns gray; meter off the applicator and skin blows out. We exposed for the product and let the two rim strips rebuild the model's outline against the white sweep, so device and face keep their own exposure zones in one frame.
2. Mirror-finish chrome tubes. The serum tubes reflect the entire studio, and any unflagged light source prints itself on the packaging as a white streak. A polarizer on the lens plus flagged softbox positions kept each tube as one clean gradient, with no crew or hardware reflected in either frame.
3. A 15cm applicator competing with a face. In a beauty close-up the face always wins attention, and a small device becomes a prop nobody notices. The composition had to make the product the reason for the frame: the roller head sits on the cheekbone where it is actually used, and the two tubes bracket the eye area they treat.
4. Skin that survives a 45MP frame. At this resolution every pore shows, but over-retouched skin looks plastic next to a precision device. Frequency separation kept real texture while evening out tone, and dodge and burn rebuilt cheekbone depth that the soft beauty light had flattened.
Our Approach
High-key beauty lighting.
The build is four lights: a large octabox as key for soft facial illumination, two strip softboxes behind the model for rim separation from the white sweep, and a small reflector under the chin to open up under-eye shadow. The rim strips do double duty: they outline the model against the white background and give the white applicator a dark-line edge to read against, which is what keeps a white product visible on a white set.
Framing the application.
We shot on the RF 85mm f/1.2 at f/8, so face and product stay sharp together at close portrait distance while 85mm keeps facial proportions true. For the roller frame the applicator presses against the outer cheekbone, exactly where a user rolls it; for the tube frame the two chrome tubes hover parallel, one above the brow and one below the cheekbone, bracketing the eye area the serum treats. A shopper understands the use from the image alone.
Retouching and delivery.
Skin went through frequency separation for texture and dodge and burn for facial contour, with stray hairs cleaned frame by frame. The chrome tubes were retouched to single clean gradients, and white balance was set to keep the white plastic neutral next to warm skin. Final delivery: high-resolution 300DPI JPG plus web formats.
"The meter wants to turn white plastic gray and skin pink. Expose for the device and let retouching give the skin back." — Garbo, Director of Photography

Frequently Asked Questions
What does on-model beauty photography cost?
On-model beauty images start at $35 per image under our Growth package, with model casting quoted separately. This 2-frame set runs about $70 plus the model day rate. White-background product frames start at $12 per image under our Essential package. All rates are starting prices; the final quote depends on your requirements.
How long does a beauty campaign session take?
This session was shot in 1 day and the finished frames were delivered in 5 business days, inside our standard 5-7 business day window that covers model casting, the shoot day and retouching.
Do you provide the model and makeup artist?
Both are available as add-ons through our Guangzhou agency partners. This session used a studio-cast commercial model with an editorial makeup artist, and we are equally set up to shoot talent your brand sends.
Are the images cleared for advertising use?
Yes. Every frame includes a full commercial license for all channels, and a signed model release is provided, so the images can run in e-commerce, social, paid campaigns, print and packaging with no royalty fees.
How do you keep a white device readable on a white background?
We expose for the product, not the face: metering off the white applicator keeps the plastic bright without clipping, and two strip softboxes behind the model draw a dark-line edge along both the model and the device. A polarizer keeps the chrome tubes as clean single gradients.
Can you show the product in use, not just held next to a face?
That is the point of the point-of-use composition: in one frame the triple-roller head sits on the cheekbone where a user would actually roll it, and in the other the two chrome tubes bracket the eye area the serum treats. The image explains the application without a caption.
Can you add plain product shots to a model session?
Yes. White-background product frames start at $12 per image and can be added on the same locked set, so the campaign and the listing images share one session and one color pipeline.
