A two-variant body lotion pair shot as geometry first: bottles balanced on the sharp corners of white plinths, then a wet-set frame where the formula itself appears as a peaked swirl beside the bottle, piped fresh from the same batch. For similar projects, explore our cosmetics photography gallery.

The two variants share a bottle and differ by label and formula color, so the photography had to sell the pairing. One frame handles the architecture, bottles perched on plinth corners in a white world; the other gets physical, putting a swirl of the actual lotion on wet tile so buyers can almost feel the texture.
| Project Overview | |

Photography Challenges
1. Balancing bottles on plinth corners. The composition asks each bottle to sit exactly on a 90-degree plinth edge, pumps angled in mirror. Real products wobble; the frame has to look effortless anyway.
2. Making a lotion swirl look edible, not clinical. A formula dollop photographed flat becomes a medical sample. The swirl needs height, a defined peak and the same micro-specks visible as in the bottled product.
3. Wetting a set without flooding it. Water droplets on tile sell freshness, but uncontrolled beading creeps into the bottle base and turns the set into a spill.
Our Approach
Plinth corner balancing act
Each bottle was set plumb on the plinth corner with a micro-wedge hidden behind the base, pumps rotated to mirror each other. The camera squares to the corner so the geometry reads sharp and the bottles look naturally perched.
Swirl styling from the same batch
The dollop was piped from product taken out of the photographed bottle, so the pink tone and suspended specks match exactly. A peaked soft-serve form holds because we chilled the product first.
Controlled wet set
The tile was misted, then hand-blotted around the bottle footprint so droplets stay in composition zones. A cool blue gradient behind keeps the wet read fresh instead of cold.
"When the formula appears outside the packaging, it becomes a product of its own. Style it with the same budget of attention as the bottle." — June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you show the actual formula outside the bottle?
Yes. We pipe a styled swirl from the same batch as the photographed product, so color and any suspended particles match. Buyers read texture honesty instantly.
How do you keep water on set from looking like a spill?
Droplet zoning: mist the set, then blot around the product footprint by hand. Water appears where the composition wants it and nowhere else.
Do plinth sets work for marketplace listings?
As secondary and brand slots they work well. For main images we deliver the same bottles on pure white from the same session.
Body care that needs texture buyers can feel?
Send the variants. We will build the geometry frame for the range and the texture frame that makes the formula tangible.
