A brush set is a counting product: the buyer wants to see all thirty-two pieces, know what each one does, and trust the bristles before spending. So the coverage strategy was density plus detail: full fans that prove the count, case shots that prove the storage, and close panels that prove the fiber quality at a distance of two centimeters.

Photography Challenges

1. Thirty-two pieces in one readable frame. A full fan of a large kit either reads as a beautiful gradient of shapes or as a pile. Symmetry, spacing and size ordering have to survive from the largest powder brush to the finest liner.

2. Black on black. Matte black handles, black ferrules on dark charcoal, a black leatherette case: the kit is a study in separation, and every edge has to be earned with light rather than exposure.

3. Bristles at proof distance. Taklon and natural fibers photograph completely differently at close range. The detail panels exist to show fiber softness and cut, so the light had to reveal texture without frizz.

Our Approach

Fan architecture first

The thirty-two-piece fan was built largest-out, smallest-in on a template, then micro-adjusted by hand until every ferrule caught the same chrome highlight. The symmetry is the sales argument.

Edge light for the black kit

A flagged strip source sketches each handle’s edge against the charcoal set, while a soft top light keeps the burgundy-tipped bristles luminous. Black products need drawn edges, not more light.

Two-panel proof frames

The pink set’s composite panels pair a full-set view with bristle macro crops in one asset, giving the listing a proof frame that answers the softness question without a zoom.

"For counting products, the photograph is the inventory. Show every piece, prove every fiber, and the review section takes care of itself." — June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you shoot large brush sets so every piece shows?

Yes. Sets up to forty pieces are fanned on size-ordered templates, with spacing adjusted so each head shape is visible. The full-count frame is usually the highest-converting image in the gallery.

How do you photograph black products on a dark background?

With edge light, not exposure. Flagged strips draw each handle’s outline, a soft top light keeps bristles luminous, and the background stays where it belongs: behind the product.

Do you shoot the storage case too?

Yes. For sets sold with a roll case, the case is half the value proposition: stitching, pockets and closure all get dedicated frames, plus composites that pair case and brushes in one asset.

A brush set that needs to prove its count and its quality?

Send the kit. We will fan it, case it and macro it, and deliver a gallery where the buyer has nothing left to ask.
