Open fifteen-shade eyeshadow palette in a matte black case with mirror

Fifteen-pan eyeshadow palette in textured gold casing with blue trim

Two fifteen-shade palettes shot open and honest: every pan visible in a true-color grid, matte and glitter finishes reading as different as they feel, mirrors angled to show they exist without showing the studio or the camera gear in them. A palette photograph is a promise about fifteen colors at once. The buyer is choosing shades they cannot touch, so the frame has to carry exact color, exact finish and the real condition of the pans. These two palettes, one in matte black and one in textured gold with blue trim, were shot with the same discipline: open, squared, color-true.

Photography Challenges

1. Fifteen colors, zero drift. A palette is fifteen promises in one frame. Warm nudes sit next to cool taupes and pressed glitters; any color cast ruins the neutrals while flattering the accents. The whole grid has to be true at once.

2. Matte versus glitter in one exposure. Matte pans want soft flat light; glitter pans want a point source to fire. One frame has to satisfy both, or the buyer cannot tell the finishes apart.

3. A mirror that betrays the studio. The open lid’s mirror reflects whatever is above the set, including the camera. It has to be angled and flagged so it reads as a mirror without documenting the ceiling.

Our Approach

Color-checked grid

The palette was squared to the sensor and lit with high-CRI sources, then the frame was checked against the physical pans on a calibrated monitor. Each shade name had to match its color, not approximately, exactly.

Hybrid finish lighting

A large diffused source carries the matte pans while a small flagged accent rakes the glitter row at a low angle, so shimmer particles fire without blowing the surrounding mattes.

Mirror discipline

The lid was propped at the exact angle where the mirror catches a flagged white card: it reads bright and clean, tells the buyer a mirror exists, and shows nothing else.

"Palette buyers shop by zooming. If a single shade is off, the review section will say so. Color truth across the whole grid is the entire job." — June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you keep eyeshadow colors accurate in photos?

High-CRI lighting, a squared camera angle, and verification against the physical palette on a calibrated monitor during the shoot. We match color in camera, because correcting fifteen shades later is how neutrals drift.

Can matte and glitter shades be shown in one frame?

Yes, with hybrid lighting: a large soft source for the mattes and a flagged low-angle accent that fires the glitter. The buyer needs to see the finish difference, not read it in the shade names.

Do you shoot individual pan close-ups?

Yes. Shade-by-shade macro crops are standard for palette listings, especially for glitters and duochromes whose effect only reads at zoom distance.

A palette whose shades deserve to be believed?

Send the palette. We will shoot the grid true, fire the glitters and deliver frames your buyers can zoom without finding surprises.
