Five frames for one unforgettable piece of packaging: a ribbed gold sphere of a cream jar, shot closed and open, with its matte retail box and a chorus of pearls, on cream surfaces that let the metal do all the talking. More work from this category lives in our cosmetics photography gallery.

This jar is the brand: a polished golden orb with concentric ribs that catch light like rings on a planet. The photography only had to do three things honestly: show the sphere, show the cream inside, and prove the luxury code with pearls, the oldest preciousness prop there is, used sparingly.
| Project Overview | |
|---|---|
| Product type | Whitening essence cream in a ribbed gold spherical jar with retail box |
| Deliverables | Five frames: closed, open, box pairing, pearl-styled compositions |
| Shoot location | AIMI studio, Guangzhou |
| Styling | Cream velour surfaces, white pearls, warm diffused light |
| Usage | Marketplace gallery, brand store and gift-season campaigns |
Photography Challenges
1. A sphere that reflects everything. A polished gold ball is a fisheye mirror. It shows the studio, the camera and the photographer unless the entire environment is designed, so the set became a controlled reflection room.
2. Ribs that must stay even. The concentric ribs are the design. Any distortion or uneven highlight makes the jar look cheap, so lens choice, distance and light direction were all chosen to keep the rib rhythm true.
3. Pearls without kitsch. Pearl props tip into cliché fast. The count, the spacing and the arcs were kept disciplined so the pearls punctuate the frame instead of flooding it.
Our Approach
A room built of cards
The sphere was photographed inside a wrap of large warm-white cards, with thin dark strips placed to define its equator. The gold shows designed reflections, not the room it sits in.
Long-lens discipline
A longer focal length from further back keeps the sphere geometrically perfect: no barrel bulge, ribs evenly spaced from pole to pole, the lid a true dome.
Open-and-closed pairing
Frames alternate the closed orb, which sells the packaging idea, with the open jar showing the cream, which sells the product. The box frame adds the gifting story between them.
"Statement packaging is a promise the photography must keep twice: once for the object, once for the contents. Shoot the orb like jewelry and the cream like food." — June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions
How do you photograph reflective spherical packaging?
Inside a designed reflection environment: large warm cards wrap the set, thin dark strips define the edges, and a long lens keeps the sphere true. The jar reflects the cards, not our studio.
Can you style luxury props without it looking dated?
Yes, with discipline: a counted number of pearls, geometric placement, and generous negative space. Luxury props fail through excess, not through the props themselves.
Do you shoot the retail box as part of the set?
Yes. For premium skincare the box is part of the value story, especially in gift seasons. We photograph it with the same finish control as the jar: matte versus gloss is a deliberate contrast, not an accident.
Statement packaging that deserves jewelry-grade photography?
Send the jar. We will build the reflection room around it and deliver frames as considered as the packaging itself.
