Three catalog frames from a distributor session covering two product lines: a floor-standing advertising kiosk photographed with its screen content live, and a convector panel heater in the two standard angles its listing needs, all on one shared white sweep.

Distributor catalogs arrive as mixed product lists, and the studio’s job is to make unrelated hardware sit in one visual language. The kiosk and the heaters shared one sweep and one lighting plan; only camera height and angle changed per product, so the frames slot into the same catalog without a visible seam.
| Project Overview | |
|---|---|
| Product type | Floor-standing LCD kiosk; convector panel heaters |
| Deliverables | Three catalog frames across two product lines |
| Shoot location | AIMI studio, Guangzhou |
| Styling | Seamless white, soft shadow, screen powered |
| Usage | Distributor catalog and reseller listings |
Photography Challenges
1. A screen that must stay readable. The kiosk was shot powered on with its demo content visible. Shutter speed was tuned to the panel refresh so the screen photographs clean, and ambient light was pulled down just enough to keep the display from washing out.
2. Gloss black fascia meets gloss screen. The kiosk’s glass face and black trim merge without help. A placed strip reflection separates screen from bezel, so the unit reads as glass-fronted hardware rather than a black monolith.
3. White heater on white sweep. The convector’s gloss white panel disappears against white under flat light. A defined key direction and a soft contact shadow kept the body and its caster feet clearly drawn.
Our Approach
One plan, mixed products
The sweep, key light and background held constant while products swapped through. Mixed distributor lists keep one catalog voice when the setup discipline does the unifying.
Live-screen discipline
The kiosk ran its demo loop during capture, shutter matched to the panel. Real screen content beats a pasted graphic for products whose entire job is the display.
Angle per listing need
The heater got the two angles its category standard expects: a three-quarter for the listing hero and a straight front for the spec row.
"Mixed-product sessions test a studio’s discipline more than single-product ones. When the list jumps from signage to heating, the setup has to be the constant, or the catalog stops looking like one company made it." — June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you photograph displays with content on screen?
Yes. We power the panel, match shutter to its refresh rate and trim ambient light so the screen content photographs cleanly. For signage products the working display is the product, so we always shoot it live.
Can mixed product lists share one session?
Yes, that is the usual distributor job. One sweep and lighting plan stay fixed while products rotate, which keeps the whole catalog in one visual language regardless of category jumps.
How do you keep white appliances visible on white?
With a defined key direction and a groomed contact shadow. The body stays true white while edges and feet keep their separation from the sweep.
A mixed catalog that needs one voice?
Send the product list. We will hold the setup constant and run every line through it, from signage to small appliances.
