Four frames covering two rice cooker models from one brand family: an entry oval unit in champagne gold and a premium rounded-square in silver, each shot front and three-quarter so the pair compares cleanly on a single shared catalog page.

Two models, two price tiers, one session. The entry cooker and the premium cooker were shot through the same two-angle plan, raised front and high three-quarter, with lighting trimmed per finish so the champagne lid and the brushed silver lid each hold their own character at the same page brightness.

Photography Challenges

1. Two finishes, one page. Champagne gold and brushed silver respond differently to the same light. Fill and flag positions were trimmed per model so both lids keep their metallic character while the four frames sit at matched brightness.

2. Control panels buyers actually read. Cooker buyers study the button array. The raised front angle was chosen to put the full panel in frame legibly, and displays were kept dark but readable rather than retouched on.

3. Handles and latches are the tactile story. Side carry handles and the front lid latch sell the daily interaction. The three-quarter angle was set to carry both in one view for each model.

Our Approach

Two-angle template

Front and three-quarter positions were fixed and reused across models. Adding a third model later means two more frames in the same template, not a new session design.

Per-finish light trim

Flags and fill shifted per unit to respect champagne versus silver, while the key light and camera stayed locked. Family consistency survives the finish change.

Panel-legible framing

Raised front framing keeps every button readable at listing size. The control array is the product’s feature list, and the frame treats it that way.

"Appliance families photograph best as templates: fix the angles, trim the light per finish, and every future model drops into a catalog that already knows how to present it." — June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you shoot a multi-model appliance family consistently?

Yes. We fix the angle template once and run every model through it, trimming only fill and flags for each finish. New models added later match the original frames.

Should cooker displays be on or off for catalog shots?

Off, usually. A dark but readable panel photographs cleanly at any shutter speed and never moirés. When a client wants the display lit, we tune the shutter to the panel instead.

How many angles per appliance model?

Two is the efficient catalog standard: a raised front that reads the control panel and a three-quarter that carries handles, latches and depth. Feature-specific models earn extra detail frames as needed.

An appliance family to photograph as one?

Send the model list. We will fix the template, trim the light per finish, and return a catalog where every tier compares cleanly.
