Smart Door Lock Product Photography

The client sells a fingerprint smart lock and asked AIMI Visual Media in Guangzhou, China to shoot the finish range for marketplace listings: black, rose copper, gold, and gunmetal. We shot 8 images in our Guangzhou studio on the white sweep: front frames for each finish, angled frames for the brushed texture, and a close-up of the emergency key cylinder with the override keys inserted, all under a full commercial license.

Photography Challenges

1. Gloss black panels reflect everything. The tempered-glass keypad face mirrors the studio. We light with large softboxes positioned as clean white cards, so the panel carries one smooth gradient instead of a picture of our ceiling: the gloss proves the glass without reporting the room.

2. Brushed copper is a direction, not a color. The antique finish reads through its linear grain. We rake a strip light along the brush direction, so the grain catches a continuous sheen and the finish photographs as metal, not as brown paint.

3. The keypad digits must glow evenly. Backlit white characters on black glass bloom under bad light. We shoot the panel unlit but keep the digits crisply printed in retouching, so the 3x3 grid reads at thumbnail size, where most buyers first see it.

4. The backup key is the trust frame. Every smart-lock buyer asks what happens when the battery dies. The close-up puts the override key in the cylinder with the USB port visible: the frame answers the objection before the FAQ does.

Angled Frames

Three-quarter frames rake light along the brushed grain and show the knurled grip inserts: the frames that prove the finish is metal, not paint.

The Key Detail Frame

The bottom-edge close-up: brass cylinder, inserted override key, USB emergency port, speaker grille. One frame that answers the battery question every listing gets.

Retouching

All 8 frames keep the lock honest: glass gradients smooth, brushed grain continuous, keypad digits crisp, and whites at 245-252. Files went out at 2000x2000px sRGB in JPEG (quality 90) and WebP, ready for Amazon main-image slots.
