AIMI Visual Media produced a kitchen scene video for EngTech Living, following a young woman’s daily routine to present the brand’s cookware and range hood. The project delivered a 3-minute 50-second horizontal master and a 30-second vertical cut, shot in 4K at 25fps with a ProRes 422 master, completed in 8 business days.

EngTech Living wanted a kitchen video built around the daily life of a young urban woman, showing the convenience and aesthetics of a modern kitchen for e-commerce detail pages and social placements. The audience is women aged 25 to 35 who buy for quality of life. We proposed a narrative thread of quiet meal preparation, with the range hood and cookware appearing in use rather than on a pedestal, and the heroine filmed from the side or behind, never front-facing.

Creative Concept

Kitchen purchases are driven by an imagined lifestyle, so the strategy was daily narrative with the product folded in. High-key lighting and soft focus create an idealized home, while a caption like “you are trapped in a monotonous, repetitive life” sets up the change the product promises. Keeping her face out of frame preserves mystery and lets the viewer step into the scene herself. The palette stays white, light blue-gray and natural wood, which photographs clean and lets the ingredients carry the color.

Production

We shot on the Sony A7S3 with the FE 35mm F1.4 GM at 4K 25fps, on a real or 1:1 built modern kitchen set. An Aputure 300D II through a softbox played the window light, exposed 1.5 stops up for an airy high-key look, with an ND filter holding the aperture where we wanted it. Actions stayed ordinary: head down prepping, stirring, tasting, directed against any hint of performance. We captured 3 to 5 takes per action and picked the most natural.

Production Challenges

1. High-key lighting blows out easily and loses detail. We used an ND filter to control light intake instead of stopping the lens down, then in DaVinci Resolve pulled highlights down and lifted shadows to recover texture in the food and cookware. The goal is bright but not empty: detail has to survive the exposure.

2. Steam and cooking fumes dirty the frame. We ran the range hood at maximum before takes, split prep and cooking into separate setups, and shot the steam shots on their own so density stayed controllable. Clean-looking steam is a scheduling decision as much as a lighting one.

3. Directed movement turns stiff on camera. Our director demonstrated each action, then we shot candidly, 3 to 5 takes per movement, and selected the most relaxed one. Framing her from the side or behind removes the pressure of the lens, which is where most of the naturalness comes from.

Where the Film Lives

The 3-minute 50-second horizontal master anchors the EngTech Living flagship store detail page, the brand story page on the official website and screens in offline experience stores. The 30-second vertical cut runs as Douyin feed ads, a pinned post on the brand’s Xiaohongshu account, WeChat Channels promotion and Moments ads. We also exported key frames for use as detail-page scene images and social media posters.

People do not buy a pot or a hood; they buy the kitchen life they imagine. High-key light, soft focus and everyday narrative trigger that feeling faster than any close-up, provided you hold the exposure back enough to keep the food and metal real. (June) — June, Product Photography Team Lead

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a kitchen scene video take to produce?

On this project, script and scene confirmation took 3 business days, the studio shoot took 1 day, and editing plus grading took 4 business days, so delivery came in 8 business days total. An accelerated schedule of 5 business days can be discussed with our team when booking.

How much does a kitchen lifestyle video cost?

Product videos at AIMI start from $200 per finished video. A project like this one, with a kitchen set, on-camera direction and a long master, is quoted by brief once we confirm your scope, so send us your product list for an exact figure.

What do we need to provide for a kitchen shoot?

Send the actual products, cookware, range hood and tableware, plus your selling-point list and brand VI guidelines. The set can be built by us or be a real kitchen you provide, scouted in advance. Ingredients are best supplied by you, or we purchase them and bill at cost.

Who writes the script, and how many revisions are included?

Our planning team writes the first draft, you send comments, and two revision rounds are free. From the third round, cost is assessed by scope. Confirm the narrative rhythm and how long each product stays on screen at script stage, because reshoots cost more than reviews.

Can you shoot in a kitchen we specify?

Yes. Beyond a studio build we can shoot in real locations such as brand experience stores, show flats or a user’s home, provided site permission and light conditions are confirmed. We recommend scouting three days ahead to lock camera and light positions.

Can a real person cook in the video?

Yes. This project kept the heroine’s face out of frame for mystery and viewer identification, but full on-camera cooking is possible with casting and direction planned at script stage. Tell us early, since casting changes both schedule and budget.

What platforms does the delivery cover?

You receive a 4K horizontal master for e-commerce detail pages, your website and in-store screens, plus a vertical 9:16 cut for Douyin, Xiaohongshu and WeChat Channels. Files ship as MP4 in H.264 or H.265, with a ProRes 422 master MOV for archiving.

Who handles the food styling?

We prep ingredients two hours before the shoot, refresh anything that wilts, and cut items like citrus on set so surfaces look alive. Clients can supply their own ingredients, or we purchase them and bill at cost, with special items agreed in advance.

Do you deliver still images along with the video?

Yes. We export key frames from the 4K master that clients typically use as detail-page scene images and social posters. If you need dedicated product photography with retouching, we can quote that as a separate line in the same brief.
